Created by Koichi Ishii, the video game designer behind Mana series, in 1988; the Chocobo is one of the most recognizable creatures not only in Final Fantasy but also in the crowded mascots’ world. Present since the first chapter of this saga; this flightless bird is inspired by the Gastornis. A prehistoric carnivorous bird who lived during the Cenozoic era. Intelligent and friendly these yellow feathered beings often assist the heroes during their crossing from a place to another. In addition, if necessary, they can turn themselves into formidable fighters thanks to their mighty beaks and claws. Appeared in all FF episodes, during the years Chocobos grew hugely in popularity, and they’re present as guest stars in games like Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Minecraft, Super Smash Bros., and many others!

Since 1997, they’ve obtained the right to become the absolute protagonists of a series that includes more than 20 titles appeared on consoles, mobile phones, and online platforms. The first episode of Chocobo series is Chocobo no Fushigina Dungeon which has been released for PlayStation on December 23, 1997, as a spin-off of the roguelike Mystery Dungeon saga which includes also titles set in Dragon Quest, and Pokémon universes.
Ranging from life simulations to racing games; the Chocobos lived many wonderful adventures across hundreds of realms who asked for their help.

The enhanced remake of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon, originally released in 2007 for the Wii is set in a town called Lostime in which the people lose their memories every time the Bell of Oblivion rings. One day a mysterious green-haired boy known as Raffaello appears in town; using his unique ability to create dungeons using people’s memories, he joins Chocobo to help all the quaint inhabitants of Lostime to get back their reminiscence. Luckily for him this time, Chocobo will be not alone; helped by the brilliant mind of Cid, the magical powers of Shirma, and the powerful items forged by Freja, he will be able to save the people from an eternal mind-blurring existence!

Featuring the brand new “Buddy System” who can give you the opportunity to recruit monsters, and creatures as allies; Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: EVERY BUDDY! for PS4 & Nintendo Switch is proudly filled with a charismatic cast of characters from Final Fantasy series.
