It’s been a wonderful ride as Sony Interactive Entertainment‘s God of War celebrates its first anniversary. With this, Sony Santa Monica Studios is now giving thanks to the supporters for this legendary game franchise in one video and a freebie for you to experience.
Throughout the years, God of War is a famous and critically-acclaimed game franchise. Now, The Game of the Year 2018 is now celebrating its first anniversary as it was released last April 20th. With this, the developers from Sony Santa Monica Studios will celebrate the anniversary all week. To start with, Santa Monica Studios releases a free PS4 theme for God of War which is now available to download. Even you don’t play this game, you can get it for free! Plus, an avatar set will be available this April 17th.
Along with the freebie, Santa Monica Studios unveils their appreciation to the God of War fans out there with a “Thank You” video. Last 2015, the franchise celebrated its 10th year anniversary. With this, the developers reflect on the new era of Kratos with his son Atreus.
In 2015, we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of God of War, having started the saga back in 2005. And, so, here we are reflecting on the one year anniversary of a new era for Kratos, now with his son, Atreus. When Cory Barlog first brought us this transformative vision of a father and son embarking on an incredible journey together, a journey to honor a wife and a mother… but also one where a boy would teach his father how to be human again; and the father (Kratos) would teach his son how to be a measured god, we knew we had something special for our fans. Santa Monica Studio‘s pride has been on top because God of War has won several awards. It was released on April 20, 2018, for PlayStation 4 and it’s the eighth installment in the God of War series. God of War is loosely based on Norse mythology rather than the previous games based on Greek mythology.
The main protagonist Kratos, and his son Atreus, journeys to fulfill the promise of his dead second wife and Atreus’ mother. Her promise is to spread her ashes at the highest peak of the nine realms. However, Kratos is cautious about what’s his true nature especially his divine nature to his son. How would things when Atreus learns that he’s a God?
God of War received universal acclaims from the video game critics because of its narrative, world design, art direction, graphics, characters, and combat system. Because of this, this game became the best-selling game in the God of War franchise and one of the best-selling PS4 games of all time. This game has received tons of awards including Game of the Year and Best Game Direction at The Game Awards 2018, Best Action and Adventure Game at 2018’s The Independent Game Developers’ Association and Best Storytelling and PlayStation Game of the Year at the 2018 Golden Joystick Awards and more. God of War‘s trophy collection has added thanks to the BAFTA 2019 winnings.
