In his “Book of Imaginary Beings”; the Argentine intellectual Jorge Luis Borges described the dragon’s image in this way: We are ignorant of the meaning of the dragon in the same way that we are ignorant of the meaning of the universe; but there is something in the dragon’s image that fits man’s imagination, and this accounts for the dragon’s appearance in different places and periods. Yes, he was absolutely right; the dragon is still one of the most prominent fantastic creatures among the planet. The origin of these legendary being is wrapped in darkness, and due to this a lot of anthropologists and folklorists tried to unveil it. Some of them like Chang Qu (a Chinese historian lived in the 4th century B.C.) confused a dinosaurs fossil with the remains of a dragon; while some other like the anthropologist David E. Jones wrote that this creature symbolizes the human’s ancient fear for the predators. But, whatever their origin is; dragons are actual superstars of the imaginary world!

Present in all cultures; they bring different meanings and shapes. For example, in European medieval mythology they were being viewed as the bringer of calamities, anger, and envy, but also of strength, and leadership. Indeed, many noble families portrayed it in their heraldic symbols. While, in the Far East countries; dragons are fierce benevolent creatures provided with “The antlers of a deer. The head of a crocodile. A demon’s eyes. The neck of a snake. A tortoise’s viscera. A hawk’s claws. The palms of a tiger. A cow’s ears. And it hears through its horns, its ears being deprived of all power of hearing”, and they rule over the water and the weather. The Four Dragon Kings (四海龍王) of Chinese mythology commonly represents the four seas who surround the Middle Kingdom.

Smaug, Toothless, Viserion, Spyro, and Shenron are probably the coolest ones you can find nowadays, but today a new pretender to the throne has appeared. His name is Zephy, and he’s the protagonist of Dragon Star Varnir for PlayStation 4!
In the fantastic world known as Varneria, there’s only one ruler: Pharisaeus, the Holy Emperor. Despite the title, he’s not so holy as would have us believe. With unlimited power, and money at disposal, his desire is to eradicate all the witches and the dragons from the world.
Influencing the masses with his charisma; Pharisaeus established a special army called Requiem Knights, which mission is to find and destroy all of them. But sometimes, even the best plans can take an unexpected turn; when Zephy the most promising member of these knights has been healed by a witch, he started to think about his past actions, joining the witch and dragon cause!

Dragon Star Varnir for PS4 is a new kind of JRPG who mix magic, huge dragons, and a dark fantasy multi-branched story in a very unique way! Summon your inner dragon, and unleash his power towards hordes of enemies, and at the same time help the witches to survive. How? Well, it’s quite simple; their diet is based on a single element, dragon’s blood. Take it to them, and you’ll get unimaginable help. But in this adventure, you’re the master, and you can choose freely to let them survive or sacrifice them. The choice is only yours, and every single one will take you to your own destiny.
