According to Growth from Knowledge UK, the preliminary data of Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the region has reached the no. 1 spot of the sales chart. And guess what? This is just for the physical versions of the game alone sold from March 15-21, 2020, considering the fact that the game has just made its launch on March 20th. That’s insane!!!
Well, since it’s just for the physical copies it’s no great surprise that we will be blown away once the data for digital sales is released. Of course, one obvious factor of this is the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. People that would love to jump right into the game will opt to go digital.
Also, it is worth noting that New Horizons has topped all the launch sales of the previous Animal Crossing games in the franchise. According to gamesindustry.biz, the launch of new horizons is 3.5 times bigger than the last game in the series, 2013’s Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Nintendo 3DS, which was the previous biggest launch for the series.
