Mafiusu: swagger, boldness; this Sicilian word is considered the root of the term mafia.
While it is originally used to denotes the crime syndicate based in Sicily since the 19th century; nowadays it is commonly applied to refer to a huge quantity of criminal organizations throughout the world. Yakuza, Triads, Bratva, Undzer Shtik, and Irish Mob are commonly considered some of the most powerful organizations that, together with the Italian Mafia, have ruined the lives of millions of people with protection racketeering, drug-trafficking, gambling, and a lot of other illegal activities.

Too powerful to be fought by common people; through the years real heroes lost their lives trying to dismantle these organizations like the judges’ Paolo Borsellino and Giovanni Falcone. But there’s no doubt that despite everything they do; the criminal underworld is a very interesting matter of study. In fact, there are so many opuses focused on the mafia that is practically impossible to list all of them.

Don’t play with the family!

From the Godfather to Black Souls; hundreds of opuses portrayed the “romantic” side of it, showing to everyone the codes, the habits, and in some cases also the honor behind every family. But let us say that is not with honorable acts that the mafia became the most powerful criminal organization in the world.
Appearing extensively also in the video game industry; mafia stories are undoubtedly rich in charm. In fact, titles like L.A. Noire, Mafia trilogy, Grand Theft Auto, or Sleeping Dogs are globally considered the most (in)famous adventures of all time.
But what happens if we mix crime stories with romantic love? The answer is not so obvious… this is why the Japanese developer Design Factory tried to create (successfully) a crime romantic visual novel game; ladies and gentlemen, get ready to experience something really unique with Piofiore: Fated Memories for Nintendo Switch!

Promontories, caves, blue waters, breathtaking views, and much more; in Burlone, you will not only read about them, but you will also experience first-hand all these places. Inside this extraordinary treasure of Italy, many different peculiarities harmoniously coexist and testify the glorious artistic, historic, and cultural heritage of the whole region. But unfortunately, despite all this beauty, Burlone has a (not so) hidden side that ruin its beauty; the presence of three mafia families who rule undisputed over thousands of honest citizens.

They are the Falzone, Visconti, and Lao-Shu ones, and Liliana Adornato, the protagonist of Piofiore: Fated Memories for Nintendo Switch; know themvery well…
Raised in the local church since early childhood, Liliana doesn’t remember anything about her family and the reasons for her abandon; but the day when her destiny crosses the activities of Burlone’s mafia all will change in a very unexpected way.
