Best entry in the series
Why three stars? Because ultimately the gameplay has not evolved enough to warrant anything more.

DoA has a history of being a pervert's version of Virtua Fighter, and in all honesty most of the entries in the series are lacking in impact outside neat graphics and advanced breast and buttocks physics. However, the latest iteration nevertheless manages to improve on the existing system and downplays stage hazards to a degree. The combos come out in a more fluid fashion than previously and characters feel more unique and balanced to previous main entries in the series. However, there is no drastic changes to make it stand apart from its sister games, which takes one star off.

The second star comes off from the fact that ultimately the game doesn't have much content outside DLC and outfits. As a VS Fighter, it does its job admirably, but outside the usual stuff there's nothing much to write home about. The story mode is a joke and does not innovate in any way. Story itself doesn't matter, but DoA's story has always been terrible.

It's a solid Good game, on par for the course. It's not stellar by far, it's not bad by any means. DoA5 LR is just a good game that'll keep you entertained for a while, especially if you have friends to drag along you with a beer or two and have a nice evening together.
