description

After years of build up, Koei Tecmo has released the very first footage forDead Or Alive Xtreme 3! Many gamers share fond memories of the previous iterations, especially the first title, Dead Or Alive XtremeVolleyball, as this was indeed thereason why some of us originally bought the first Xbox.

Notorious in it's promotional material and absolutely unabashed at what this title is about, DOAX3 carries on the tradition of this spin-off by taking the girls of Dead Or Alive and pitting them in a no holds barred beach vacation filled with mini-games designed to showcase the new technological advances of the series.Apparently there is volleyball or something ;)

By using the upgraded Soft Engine 2.0 for thePS4 Version (an improved breast engine based off Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round)and the Soft Engine Lite (PS Vita Version), 4 main changes have been made to the character models. New skin shaders give off a realistic andhealthy vibrancy, and breast physics have been fine tuned for maximum voluptuousness. As well, game changing booty physics have been fleshed out, along with the fact that no other game containssuch realistic tanning. The main stay Camera Mode also returns and will be compatible with the upcoming PlayStation VR.

There are 9 characters in the roster, selected based on a popularity contest where the results were announced during the Toyko Game Show 2015:Marie Rose, Honoka, Kasumi, Ayane, Kokoro, Nyotengu, Hitomi, Momiji, and Helena Douglas complete the roster, with no plans for DLC.

Finally, Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3 isa Japanese/Asian Region exclusive, although if a Western release happens, it will be an "adjusted" version. What this actually means though, is highly based on the assumption of censorship; in the meantime, this version is the only sure bet on the original xtreme experience.

Pricey but very nice!
Being a fan of the DOA franchise (..since my order of the Japanese version of DOA 1 for the Sega Saturn years ago.), this was something I was looking forward to. The Saikyou Package brings forth selection of items any collector would love. The playing cards, 3D mousepads & artbooks are a great addition along with the large bath posters & extra pin-ups. Even the large boxes of each "Collector Edition" for PS4 & PS Vita are very nice and packed away in one special designed white box for everything. Yes, the Saikyou Package is quite pricey but beautiful & tempting to any hardcore DOA fan. If you are one who is a collector who loves the fan-service & the DOA girls then this is for you. As I mentioned earlier the price may be high, but once that box comes to your house and you open it up, you'll really be happy you did purchased it. I'm happy I bought this and have no regrets.

As for DOA Xtreme 3 Fortune (PS4), you'll immediately see how beautiful this game is. The characters look stunning as expected, but everything else from the water to beaches to even the time of day also looks incredible. Keeping in mind that Tomonobu Itagaki (..who made DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball & DOA Xtreme 2) has been gone from Team Ninja since 2008, Yosuke Hayashi was behind the choices for the creation of DOA Xtreme 3. With this new title has come many changes. Some characters from the previous games are not present (Leifang, Tina, Lisa & Christie) and replace by other characters (Marie Rose, Honoka, Momiji & Nyotengu). Also certain mini-games have been removed (Water-Slide, Jetski Racing, Slot-Machines & Online Multiplayer) only to be replaced by a few new things (Rock-Climbing, Owner Mode & Owner Paradise). Unlike the earlier games, Xtreme 3's "Owner Mode" adds a leveling grind system to the game which also controls when certain suits or outfits will become available for purchase in the new "Owner Shop". While the "Sports Shop" still carries a selection of swimsuits based on the girl you are playing, it also now sells certain hairstyles first instead of you just changing the girl's hairstyle immediately. The player can now change between "Girl Mode" (Playing as the girl you wish) & "Owner Mode" (Playing as the temporary Owner of the island interacting with the girls). There's now a "Satisfaction Level" which the level of the relationship between the Owner and the girls which can be seen by a glow of pink that gradually grows around the portrait of each girl or 4 hearts. The "Closeness Level" is the level of the relationship between the girls. The vacation still follows the 14 day format but actually results in the player being graded with S+ being the best. Also new to the game is each character having her own ending if you complete all 7 of that girl's missions which are given to you randomly throughout the vacation. There are other missions given but are not fully required for completion seeing that you can abandon them. It appears that the game has taken a few different paths in comparison to the original but it does not ruin the game. The highly improved camera engine from DOA5: Last Round has replaced the terrible camera engine from the previous Xtreme games making it a lot more simpler to take pictures. Oddly enough, the "Custom Soundtrack" feature has purposely been removed from this game & you can not use the PS4's USB Player or Media Player with it. The music to this game is still okay and fits the scene but it seems limited after hearing it for a few hours. At the end of the day fans of the Xtreme series will settle for the changes that have been made but still love the game.
