Another fantastic entry in the Donkey Kong Country series
The Wii U might not have many games, but the good games it does have are truly outstanding.

It's difficult to decide what to talk about first in a game of such high quality, however for me, probably one of the most striking and fascinating aspects of this particular game even early on was the excellent soundtrack, music so good I can safely say it's among the best soundtracks in gaming.
The music ranges from up beat, happy go lucky cartoony music to more serious or even in a way epic themes, it has it all and it does a wonderful job of integrating itself in the core gameplay experience.

However to truly experience the incredible soundtrack the game itself has to be played since the music changes based on the environment, so different types of the same songs mix and blend together to create just the right feel for just the right moment in each level, it's simply unbelievable.

But good music and atmosphere always go hand in hand with good visual art direction and while I believe the game could've used a few more technical improvements here and there, overall it's a colorful, gorgeous looking CARTOON with DK and friends, a cartoon you will want to share with your kids, your friends, relatives, everyone you love. Environments range from familiar to brand new, in just the first two worlds I saw so much beauty I dare not imagine what lies in store for me as my adventures continue in this world.

Character and monster designs match the environment art, sound and music PERFECTLY, we have plenty of brand new enemies this time around, each designed with utmost care and love, every character be it a bad guy or a friendly character in the game has a soul, they all look like toys that came to life in a colorful crazy world full of dangers and FUN.

Speaking of dangers let's talk a bit about gameplay, the game much like DKCR likes to pretend that it wants to kill you, that it's strict, ruthless and relentless, but in reality all it really wants to do is give you an unlimited amount of lives and let you pop them party balloons as you please, it just wants you to have fun sending those monkeys to their doom because it's all one big fun birthday party for cryin out loud, nobody gets hurt for real :)
So just stock up on balloons and don't let them collect dust, they're there for you to have FUN.

Don't worry, even if by chance you have to restart a level you won't do worse than you did your first time, just don't think too much and you'll be fine, these games rely on muscle memory and as long as you know not to trust any platform and not to stand too long in one spot when clearly everything around you is crumbling down you'll be fine and eventually get through that the meantime enjoy the amazing visuals and music.

New gameplay mechanics seem to have been implemented in very subtle yet fantastically functional ways, from being able to make Rambi run faster and using Cranky's stick to jump higher, avoid spike damage to using Dixie's hair to swim faster, it all flows so naturally as if these mechanics have always been there but we just didn't know we had them.
From what I can tell, the game doesn't seem to use any of its new mechanics as gimmicks but rather implements each and every one of them as seamlessly as possible into the gameplay.

Another absolutely fascinating thing about this game is that it seems no two levels are alike, usually in games like this it's common for worlds to follow a certain theme which DKCTP is no stranger to either however in most of these games these worlds often have 2-3 levels or more that are very similar to each other, this however is not the case with Tropical Freeze. Every level is unique and offers a unique visuals, audio and gameplay experience.
