Eye-popping CGI with Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. Limited Edition Steel Book Available on September 30th.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV works best as an accompanying piece to the game, not so much as a stand alone movie that anyone will understand. It's kind of a theatrical form of what an NPC would recap halfway through the game. Maybe a suggested viewing order will emerge soon (see Star Wars).

The main selling point are the visuals. There has not been a more gorgeous CG movie before and if the cutscenes in the game are of similar quality, that's already a selling point. As for the plot, well, it's Final Fantasy! If you aren't keeping track using a wiki, you will be lost come the finale. But as is tradition, even then it's serviceable enough to give the eye-candy-action a reason to happen.

Sean Bean, Aaron Paul and Lena Headey do a good job dubbing the main protagonists. Surprisingly convincing facial expressions help to emote where due and there is enough spectacle to justify repeat viewing. As an appetizer to the game, it's tasty. As a isolated experience, it's for your eyes only!

The Limited Edition Steel Book comes with lots of special features and an extra disc featuring the Brotherhood anime series. Pre-orders for September 30th.
