Excellent Game
The Fallout series is know for entertaining "freeplay" games in which the players decisions influences a lot of the gameplay. This game is no different. It incorporates this classic Fallout gameplay with the Fallout 3 engine to create a beautiful looking game.

For those who are adept to this style of game, there is also a hardcore mode which makes the game much harder.

The downfalls of this game however is the minor bugs encountered now and again but this should not put you off playing it.

Myself being 23 hours in and still having heaps to do, this game will keep you entertained for many days to come.

The Same, but Different.
At first glance, it looks like Fallout 3. It uses the same engine, and has the same animations problem. But the RPG aspect is much improved. There are streamlining of skills and character progression; you only get perks every 2 levels (you can now be level 30), no perks increase skills a large amount, skills now affect different things (energy weapons include flamers, miniguns and rifles share a skill etc.) etc. THere are also new skills like Survival, that allow you to make food from ingredients. Stats now have new effects, like Charisma affecting companion effectiveness. Speaking of companions now they are actual characters with personalities, motivations and personal quests. The writing is hugely improved, with the story now having choices that can experiences completely different on different playthroughs. The voice acting is also better, from the many characters, to the celebrity actors like Danny Trejo, Felicia Day, William Sadler and Wayne Newton. Then there are small changes, like iron sights on rifles, armor having damage threshold (weaker attacks can be completely ineffective) and the ability to craft ammo and chems.

Don't forget hardcore mode, for added gameplat experience. Now characters require water, food and sleep. Ammo has weight and crippled limbs require doctors or doctor's bags. It makes the game much more challenging.

There are bugs. But patches already fixed most of it, and there are simple fixes online. They are worth powering through for this amazing experience.

Great game, just a few glitches
Great game with very believable story. The beginning of the game isn't great for people new to the series "should I go melee or energy guns or explosives?" and game more then occasionally freezes requiring a restart of the game.

But all round very enjoyable and very attractive game and runs well on mid-level machines. Character creation is great fun!

Goodness in a Sandpit
I found that it sticks very closely to the FO3 formula. However I also found it is more of a sandpit environment with a plot that is not really nessescary or on that I found interesting or compelling. Also skills are few and far between, so choose uber with a very few or low with many. and the perks just arnt as good. It is addictive but lags as there is no real story except perhaps the one you make. Be warned it is filled with bugs and crashes on my uber-beast. I like the hardcore mode as it allows for more interesting play. Also for the time gap I thought it might be a more intertwined world. but i'm only half way.

enjoying it
on hardcore mode ive played 40hrs (half way through) before wanting to put it down. its good but not excellent. has bugs so save often. its another follow arrow on minimap and skip the text game. inventory takes time to master, cinematics are good, combat is clunky but different enough to make it fun. they made the boring bits fun via good music, card game, interesting npcs.
