Nintendo's Former Japanese Exclusive Masterpieces
Famicom Detective Club is one of those Nintendo franchises that doesn't often get as much love and appreciation as it should. For being one of the first text-based mystery games on a home console back in 1988, it did a lot for that genre of gameplay, something not seen since The Portopia Serial Murder Case for MSX in 1983.

I had decided to buy the physical version due to the fact that Nintendo of America had decided on NOT doing a physical release for the U.S. markets, which I feel like they missed out on; but I digress.

This collector's edition box set of the game is beautiful with not only the physical cartridge of the games, but bonus material like a two-sided poster, a CD containing music tracks from both the original Famicom versions, the SNES remake of 'The Girl Who Stood Behind, and the 2021 remakes, and finally a art book containing the artwork from every version of these two games: the Famicom, Super Famicom, and Nintendo Switch.

This is a must buy for any die hard Nintendo fan who is looking to start importing for their Switch, the only issues is that the text cannot be changed from Japanese to English.

Great Visual Novels
The collector edition is Japanese only but I couldn't resist, you'll get the soundtrack reprinted leaflets and an artbook.
The games show their ages at some moments, the basic gameplay mechanics is a little bit stiff and you can easily get stuck if you forgot to talk several times to a character about something ,for example.
You can also easily overlook a key element because it's easy to miss a tiny little thing while searching the environment.
But those moments are rare and the two games offer good stories, great visuals and voice acting !

Worth Every Yen!
If you're a fan of visual novels this is a must own - fantastic graphics and sound, and the voice acting is top notch. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of the retro font and music options, to really get back to those Nintendo roots!

Warning: while many Switch games are multilingual Nintendo has for some reason chosen to only include the Japanese version on this cart. I can only recommend you purchase this if you have a solid understanding of Japanese. If you can't, grab this wonderful gem from the Switch eShop instead.

Great Adventure Game!
I got this special edition in order to own this piece of Nintendo history and to play it in it’s original language. The visuals are spectacular and very well painted! Just that alone was the reason I wanted to play this game. The game does show its age a little bit where you have to ask about the same thing multiple times to advance the story which can be annoying. The game is FULLY voice acted which is really nice and the actors perform very well. If you’re a fan of things like Ace Attorney then you owe it to yourself to play the progenitor of those games.

Note: while this game has an English version, the special edition is Japanese only.
