For Azeroth! For Pre-Order! Warcraft: The Beginning to Be Released on September, 23rd.

The first announcement by Blizzard that a Warcraft movie was coming was in 2006, still on the height of the franchise's popularity. World of Warcraft had been on the market for a bit over a year back then, straining relationships and lowering school grades all over the world.

With delays aplenty and 10 years in planning, Dr. Uwe Boll wanting to make the movie and got rejected by Blizzard, the directing job went to Duncan Jones - Warcraft fan, director of the brilliant movie Moon and the son of the late, great David Bowie.

Jones, who displayed more drama than action sensibilities in the past, was immediately drawn to the orc characters and made them more compelling than the humans. A bold move that didn't sit well with everybody. While critics shredded the movie, lots of gamers endorsed it. Most likely due to being familiar with the story and lore and not needing a lot of exposition that was missing to the uninitiated.

The planned sequels were thereby already written off as everyone smelled a box office bomb. But lo and behold, riding in on a white horse came the mainland China market and saved the day with a whopping $220 million, making it the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time. And thus, the next installments are a sure thing!
