description

Mega House's GEM series is a collection of the coolest men in anime/ manga. Kakashi-sensei, the model ninja is here to show you his moves. Although this is not an action figure, you can display him in various states of action. You can take his face mask off to show his mangekyou sharingan, one of the most fascinating skills in the Naruto world. The pack comes with quite a few of Kakashi's favourite things. You can put the naughty magazine Icha Icha tactics in his hands or have him standby for battle with his shinais.

Pretty Decent Statue
The paintjob is pretty decent and you can have different pose combinations with the extra hands and even comes with the famous Icha Icha book that Kakashi always reads. Its a good figure. The only complain I have is that the Sharingan does not look like the one he has in the anime.

GEM Hatake Kakashi Review by PinkFoxx
It's nice to see the release of a scaled PVC figure for any character in the Naruto series, let alone the copy-ninja Hatake Kakashi. A character whom is personally my favourite character. Inducted into the GEM series portrays Kakashi's character as one of the most popular men in anime and manga. Hopefully with this new release by Megahouse it will open the pathway for future Naruto PVC figures.

Now, onto the figure itself...

Packaging
The packaging is somewhat plain, though of high quality with a glossy finish giving an impressive professional look. It features dark clouds and gives a very mystical, ninja-like feel. Simple and yet it works, it doesn't detract from the figure itself and sticks to a common theme. There are clear panels on the side in a cresent moon shape, and another on the top with clear panels that make up the mangekyou sharingan. A standard window panel is on the front for figure veiwing.

The box itself is about 30cm in height, it's internal packaging is your standard plastic though each accessory it individually wrapped and fitted perfectly so as not to fall out during travel.

Sculpting / Paint Job
The figure itself on the whole is beautiful, though in comparison to something like ALTER seems to have something lacking.
The sculpt is a little rough in places, particulary on areas on the jacket when viewed up close ie the jacket buckles and hands although this wouldn't be so noticable if it weren't for the paint job. Also I found the eyes to look a little too rounded for Kakashi's character, although they don't in anyway look bad, in fact they're quite beautiful (similar to something Uchiha Itachi would have) but unlike the original character who's eyes are half circles. The face features though are wonderful, you can see facial features under Kakashi's mask, particulary his lips which is a nice touch. The hair could hav been brought more to a point, rather than rounded but I can understand that there are certain limitations when it comes to sculpting and figure sturdiness.

The paint job is probably where this figure is a little dissapointing, in some lights the chunin jacket can look almost metalic green which can look really strange. I would have liked to see more detail and higgher quality in the gradients. Most of the colours save for the hair and partially in the jacket are quite flat. In some light and pictures it's not so bad but sitting the figure in front you you.. there are some lovely folds in the pant fabric due to the sculpt that could have been emphasised with a little extra detail. On my figure, the head accessory with the sharingan covered had a painting error - the Konoha symbol on the forehead protector was also a little off which you will see in upcoming pictures. The white of the bandages comes out looking dirty rather than textured. On a positive note, the sharingan is particulary detailed and completely acurate.

Now, this being said it's not a bad figure instead, these things are just me nitpicking and trying to include everything in this review for the reader. I also recieved ALTER's Tsumugi earlier in the day which is perhaps why I'm a little harsh on GEM's paint job.
Don't get me wrong, it is a really nice figure, and by far the highest quality Naruto figure released. If you're a big Kakashi fan like me, you will love it. It has a smooth, matted finish which is nice to look and I had a great time taking photos with this figure. Sure there are a few small flaws but it's wonderful to have such a nice Kakashi figure in the cabinet.

Posing / Accessories
This is the fun part! The GEM Kakashi figure comes with two heads, two left arms, two right arms and a copy of Icha Icha Tactics. One of the heads comes with the Sharingan covered, and the other has his headband raised so it's visible. The heads are removed at the base of the neck where the jacket and neck meet, making it a seemless transition. The same can be said for the arms, as they attach a few millimetres into the jacket from the sides.

The two arms that come for Kakashi's right are his 'accessory' arms, one is posed to hold his favourite novel and the other comes holding a Kunai, poised for attack. These are both very accurate and well done poses. It's good to the the option available to include the Icha Icha Tactics which is what Kakashi is so well known for, but on a more serious note be able to equip a kunai.

The second set of arms are for Kakashi's left; they include a casual hand resting on hip and a standard clenched fist. That makes an array of different poses which you have control over to get the character looking exactly the way you like. The leg placements are also really well done, I'm not sure why but it really adds emphasis to the pose - it seems to emit confident and in control mannerisms for the character which are spot on.

Base
The base, in my opinion, is very nice. It's just your standard matte black base, it's attractive in it's simpicity because it doesn't in anyway take the focus off the figrue and yet it's not boring. A glossed, slightly raised mangekyou sharingan design sits in the center, with the name 'Hatake Kakashi' scrawled along the front.

It could be just my figure, but he seems to be a little uneven on the base - not unsteady, more like he's there's a forward lean on particular angles.

Enjoyment & Conclusion
As I mentioned earlier, I had a lot of fun taking pictures with this figure. Whether it's the confident pose, the choice of accessories or the fact that it's a high quality Kakashi figure (or a combination of all these), it really is a must have for Kakashi and Naruto fans alike. It could have a few improvements made to it, but on the whole as the first scaled PVC Kakashi figure and completely stoked and glad I got my hands on one!
I give it 7/10, it would have been higher but the score was dropped due to the paint job and the inaccuracy of the eyes.
