Superb energy, an enjoyable LIVE
i've been a SPEED fan since 1997 and have seen all their major live performances on video. I am very impressed with this concert and I highly recommend it to any old/new fans.
The opening "Bridge to Heaven" is super stylish and really sets up a mature composure of the current SPEED. I've always favored hiro's singing, so her holding onto the last note and it echoing in "Still Blowing..." was a nice surprise!
SPEED as a group and also as individuals, have improved and enriched as performers in both song & dance, that any true fan would appreciate all the hard work and dedication the four members put into their performances.
Some people made note of hiro's vocals being more strained in this concert, and sounding very raspy in "Confusion," but I thought she did a great job. I am by no means a audiophile, but I do have the impression that the 2009 Budokan live recording is cleaner than this one at 2010 Osaka-Jo Hall.
Although the members are heading into their late 20s, their stamina is still impressive and the energy they evoke from the audience is unique in JPOP, or even the entire Asian music scene.
The atmosphere of behind-the-scenes in this tour is much more relaxed than the previous year's (Welcome to SPEEDLAND 2009). takako is mainly behind the camera and we get to see some fun moments and very fan-interactive MCs.
The Dance Melody is a lot of fun to watch ("I'll Be All Right), and in the latter parts a very mature, jazzy SPEED emerges. Also, one of my favorite coupling songs, "Kisetsu ga Iku Toki" is full of energy and tension! The rundown wraps up with the light-hearted "HIMAWARI" and the re-arranged "Wake Me Up!" which is always a crowd-pleaser.
Again I highly recommend this DVD set. I understand just a bit of Japanese, so the Chinese subtitles are really helpful (all the songs and MCs are subtitled).
