Kirby your enthusiasm (sorry for the bad pun...)
No PAL release for this Kirby collection (typical Ninty!!) turns out not to be such a drama as importing this Japanese version let's me play some awesome Kirby games in 60hz for the first time. Full screen!! whaaa???
Packaging is gorgeous and series 'memorial' music disc 68 minutes of loveliness covering the gambit for GB titles all the way to Epic Yarn.
And at 29 bucks it's a steal !!
What are you waiting for, buy the damn thing before it disappears forever...

Great presentation, however...
I am happy to own this Collection. If you're a Kirby fan you should be familiar with most of the content game-wise, you're getting plenty of quality platforming with lots of charm.

And, as if that wasn't enough, the extras warrant the price: The soundtrack that spans 45 tracks, the cool artbook and the episodes from the anime (episodes 1, 60 and 72 are included) . The "Motto Challenge Stages", with gameplay lifted from Kirby Wii, serve as a fun distraction as well.

However, being basically Virtual Console ports, I must warn you there are almost no display-control options of any kind. To make matters worse, the default button mapping of both the Classic Controller PRO and the Gamecube controller is downright absurd in many cases (e.g [B]/[Y] to inhale or [A]/[X] to jump on the Classic Controller PRO. Such config applies to both GameBoy iterations, the Famicom one and Motto Challenge Stages. And the config of the Gamecube Controller is even worse...)

Simply inexcusable... The Wiimote is the only control option with somewhat-decent button config. I reiterate, you cannot customize the controls at all so you'd better be prepared to put up with a sideways-help Wiimote if you were counting on using a different controller. A PS2 Controller is a sound alternative to counter this obnoxious flaw but you'll be forced to acquire a converter (fortunately, they are not expensive. I suggest getting a "Cube Joybox Pro" by Mayflash) .

A rightfully deserved 20th anniversary gift!
This is probably the best anniversary game available based on the content it came from.

Truly, Kirby's best games on 1 single disc. Kirby's Dreamland 1, 2, 3, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's Super Star, and Kirby 64. There is also a special Kirby game on there that uses the images from Kirby Wii Return To Dreamland which was fun. The only strange thing about these games is that they are all Virtual Console ports, like they were ported to the Wii download service, then ported to a disc instead of real emulators.

Very minor issues include the Virtual Console nature of these games which has nothing to do with the content, but rather how Nintendo decided the Wii should handle this game. The other is probably for the same reason, but the controls still cannot be customized.

The good parts of this game disc is that it includes the best Kirby games out, GAMECUBE controller support, classic controller support, a soundtrack disc that is selected music from all the Kirby games (usually 3 per game), a history book, and quickplay instructions that only show the Wiimote for some reason.

Breakdown:
Kirby's Adventure: Great game, a little long for a platformer.
Kirby's Dreamland: black and white gameplay at its best, but very short.
Kirby's Super Star: Without a doubt, the best Kirby game.
Kirby's Dreamland 2: a good, solid Kirby game.
Kirby's Dreamland 3: a pretty good game, not as good as Super Star.
Kirby 64: The ability to combine abilities leaves you with 64 total abilities to battle 7 intense boss battles traveling from planet to planet. The checkerboard minigame is very fun!

I say, get this game, for $60 ($10 a game plus a bonus game), you can't go wrong!
