承接第一集，賀英（甄子丹　飾）、薩獒（王寶強　飾）及聶虎（喻亢　飾）於青馬大橋惡戰，賀英中彈與薩獒雙雙墮海，下落不明。元龍（任達華　飾）已晉升為香港警務處長，並動用大批警力，成功找到賀英。元龍得悉賀英想運用時空金球回到400年前，改變歷史拯救桃園村村民，他於是帶同賀英與聶虎前往北京尋找時空金球的下落。元龍急於回到明朝成其大事，賀英不從，最後以小美性命（黃聖依　飾）要脅英說出口訣，重啟金球穿越回到明朝謀朝篡位。最後金球順利把龍虎二人送回明朝，賀英與小美卻在不同時空穿越，幸而趕及在元龍的詭計得逞之前回到桃園村。眼看距離歷史發生屠村的日子漸近，賀英下定決心嘗試改變歷史……
