Ip Man 3: Donnie VS Iron Mike! Early Hong Kong Release!

First release before the global release, get it here first:  Ip Man 3 on Blu-ray and DVD with English subtitles!
Pre-orders for March, 10th.

The wait is finally over for all Ip-Maniacs: the third part of the Donnie Yen-arch of the series has arrived on Blu Ray and DVD both as the single movie or the whole trilogy.

If you are new to the series: welcome to some of the best martial arts movies of recent years. People unfamiliar with the brand name might be wondering who that Ip Man guy is and why there are so many movies about him. Or why there is also a “Yip Man” and whether the director of all three movies, Wilson Yip, is a descendant of him. And why is he also credited in The Grandmaster?

To bring some order into this confusion, let's do a little rundown on the most important facts concerning the (Y)Ip Man.

First off, he was a real person and legendary martial arts teacher best known for training Bruce Lee. Second, Yip and Ip are both legit ways of writing his name, but Wilson Yip is not related. And “Man” was his first name btw, not a fancy nickname.

After the success of the first and second movie with Donnie Yen, director Herman Yau did 2 movies depicting his earlier and later life and Wong Kar-Wai finally got the funding to film The Grandmaster, an art-house take on the subject.

The real life Ip Man died in 1972, just 7 months before Bruce Lee, of throat cancer probably caused by an addiction to opium. If you ever happen to visit Hong Kong, make sure you pay your respects at the grave of one of the last grandmasters of martial arts.
