Yes it's Virtual Boy, but, a masterpiece indeed!
Yes, the Virtual Boy is known to be Nintendo's worst console, but the truth is, from the whole library of games, out of like 20, 19 were good with Water World being the only debatable game, but still wasn't terrible. That aside, this is my opinion on this game.

Jack Bros. in English is impossible to find, but this game requires no Japanese skill to play, so you can enjoy it to the fullest. This game is a lot like Bomberman for Super Nintendo being a mazelike game, but you walk around these floors and pick up items for 3 stages, then are taken to a boss battle which for a Virtual Boy is pretty intense. This game has a full story (may be the only Virtual Boy game with one), a great soundtrack to keep you playing and levels and bosses all involving different strategies to get you through. It is addicting 2D puzzle, action at its best. I always play as Jack O Lantern because I like the pumpkin head, but he may not be the best to use. The only issue I have with this game is the timer because it seems too short, but it adds to the intensity of the game and as long as you keep moving, you can ignore the clock. Jack Bros. is truly a lost and forgotten masterpiece. Also, this game is made by Atlus famous now for making the greatest RPGs including Shin Megami Tensei where these characters are referenced.

Even if you are against the Virtual Boy, definitely get one and pick up this game. Don't like staring into the eyepiece, then just set a video camera in front of it to project it on the TV and sit comfortably on the couch playing it on a large TV screen.
