This is technically the complete edition of the first game released back in 2008 called Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles. Memories of the Past has new translations, as well as cases that were cut from the original release. The game itself is a visual novel style game similar to Ace Attorney, albeit a bit easier. A good entry point for those new to this kind of game.

If you like to think and like detective stories, then you will enjoy this game.Grapics are just ok, and the methos is not very easy to use but we need more games of the kind.

Basically a graphic novel, as there is little to no challenge in actually solving the cases. But the further you get in the game the more you feel for the characters, and two of the cases actually end up being quite touching. Only real flaw is the somewhat ugly character art. Has fun extras and the cases are a good length too at a few hours each. Highly recommended for adventure game fans.

This is my first time with a Jake Hunter game, thankfully I avoided the first english DS release and skipped straight to this. This game is comparable to a visual novel in so much that all action is just selecting from a few choices presented on screen (Not unlike Phoenix Wright but more simple in this case). All the rest is reading and the story is very enjoyable, the noir and hardboiled detective feel in this game set up a great atmosphere. I can recommend this game to anyone who is not afraid of a bit of reading and enjoys a good story.
