JUNE IN JAPAN: Japanese game release highlights for June (Part 2)

PlayStation®4 Xbox ONE™ [Hack 'N Slash] Release: June 18th [JPN]

For the uninitiated, the original Devil May Cry series brought forward the idea of playing with SSStyle; with breakneck speeds, intricate and acrobatic combos, perfect controls, and an intense presentation filled with the Capcom-esque grit reflecting the trends of the time, Devil May Cry is a direct influence to many of today's similar titles.

Seven years after the original launch, Capcom is bringing back Devil May Cry 4 - the publisher's first PS3 title with Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition. On the PS4 and Xbox ONE, with a treatment similar to their recent revival with Resident Evil: HD Remaster, DMC4: SE will have new game modes, gameplay and visual improvements, and perhaps the most exciting aspect for fans, the largest playable roster in any DMC game yet!

Speaking of the roster, fan favorite Vergil is playable, with his appearance based on his rendition from Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition. Gameplay wise, a new mechanic is introduced known as "Concentration", which complements Vergil's iajutsu style rewarding players with progressively stronger attacks when fights are executed calmly without the dependency of button mashing. This combined with the "Grim Trick" teleport ability and Devil Mode, will not only challenge veterans and newcomers alike, but offer a distinct experience separating Vergil from both DMC mains Dante and Nero.

Two other exciting additions to the roster once again channel fan favorites, and each character has a distinct playstyle which adds to the replayability common to the Devil May Cry Series: Trish and Lady!

PlayStation®Vita [Visual Novel] Release Date: June 25th, 2015 [JPN]

In the near future, technology has developed to the point where most things have been digitized, from everyday items to entertainment. Makito is a game-loving student who is full of curiosity. He tries every game that comes out, but he had lately been dissatisfied with them...

One day, Makito receives an invitation to the closed beta of an augmented reality (AR) game called 'Harvest Onreal' - the highly anticipated project by Cymell Corporation, which had produced prominent AR games in the past.

In Makito's excitement to play the newest installation in the 'live game' genre he signed up without reading the dreaded user agreement, which turns out to be huge mistake. Without the ability to turn off the AR or the game itself Makito is trapped with the only option being to clear the game.

Luckily Makito doesn't have to escape on his own, as other characters trapped in the game team up to form the 'Next Generation Club'. The club consists of the game-loving lady-like underclassman Lilia, the most powerful (and short) upperclassman Komachi, transfer student Yuuka who Makito met by chance at the beach, and his genius programmer younger sister Sumi.

The Limited Edition ships the Original Soundtrack 'Harmonic Reality' (2CD) in addition to the game.

Nintendo 3DS™ [Tactical RPG] Release Date: June 25th, 2015 [JPN]

Selling over an impressive 1.8 million units worldwide, not only did Fire Emblem Awakening revitalize Nintendo's flagship tactical turned based RPG, it proved to the video game community that hardcore games on a handheld still had a huge audience.

With the long standing mechanic of permanent death for units lost in the fray, what transpired was something RPG games try to do but often fail at: creating deep emotional bonds between the player and their characters. And with this success, the newest iteration of Fire Emblem will arrive soon, with features poised to change this series even further!

The main character will be a customizable avatar created by the player. This time, your created character is the game’s main character, rather than a secondary character like previous titles. The story sees the Hoshido and Nohr kingdoms at war. It's up to the player to decide which side to take—whether to follow their bloodline versus their loyalty. The path you choose ultimately decides your character's fate. No matter what, the world and characters will be the same. But depending on your decision, the story lines and outcomes will be different...

The two story lines will be split into two separate titles in Japan: Fire Emblem If: White Kingdom and Fire Emblem If: Black Kingdom. If you buy one version, you’ll be able to purchase the other at a reduced cost as downloadable content game.
