Best non-game on DS
With so much music software available as DSiWare, it may be hard shelling out more money for one that comes on a cartridge, but I guarantee it's worth it. As far as I know, no other DS music application allows you to actually synthesise your own sounds and that's what really sets this apart!

it's KORG.
Got both original and plus version, if you're a musician, it's nice to have it in your pocket, it's a very good synth/seq software on it own, just KORG name is enough to buy without thinking.

Only 16 patterns????
This game is fun to screw with and you can get some cool sounds out of it but you can't really compose a real song on it because you only get 16 patterns, so unless your songs are repetitions of really really short patterns (like techno or dance) I would not get this to write music. Korg DS can be really useful to capture ideas on the go and just practice on your notes and composing ideas. It will give you a nice introduction to basic synth commands too. NOTE THIS GAME HAS A REGION PROTECTION.

Korg DS10+
Genuinely sorry I did not review this item sooner.
This item is the American Korg DS 10 + version, notice the PLUS. This is NOT a review for the DS10 STANDARD version.
The PLUS version is REGIONCODED for the DSI.
Here is what I found out about the plus version:
KorgDS10PLUS wont work on a DSI from another region, so not at all,only shows no game inserted.
KorgDS10PLUS will work like the standard KorgDS10 on boulth DS and DSLite.
So watch out where your DSI is from, and order the right item here.
For the rest the " game " is more than I expected.
Wish I could give it a 6 stars. For the freaks like me, I could not find specifications on the DSXL ,
(it looks sooo nice though :) )
so I do not know if Korgds10 and/or Plus will work on it.

US Version Region Locked on DSi too
Similarly to the Japanese version of this product, the US version is region locked on DSi too.
So, you can only lay on DS sacrificing the advanced featuillres.
Still worth a go in my opinion, especially as standard DS-10 is hard to come by...I'll be putting some tunes down on my DS, but I'm slightly gutted that I can't use the DSi features.
