In 1922, Salvador Dali arrives at The University of Madrid while traditional values are challenged by the dangerous new influences of Jazz, Freud, and the avant-garde. 18 years old and determined to become a great painter, Dali's bizarre blend of shyness and rampant exhibitionism attracts the attention of two university's social elites - poet Federico Garcia Lorca and film director Luis Bunuel. Dali, Bunuel and Lorca become a formidable trio, the most ultra-modern yet youthfully decadent group in Madrid. However as time passes, Dali feels and increasingly strong pull towards the charismatic Lorca. Dali and Lorca draw closer, sharing their deepest beliefs, inspirations, and secrets, developing a special kind of friendship. In search of artistic success, Dali and Bunuel sets off for Paris where Bunuel directs his surrealistic film, "Un Chien andalou." Alone in Madrid, Lorca struggles against his own religious beliefs and undeniable desire. He is haunted by news of Dali, who has embarked on an affair with Gala, wife of Picasso. By 1936, Spain is on the brink of civil war. When Dali receives news of Lorca, now a highly acclaimed playwright and active revolutionist, Dali realizes the depth of his love for Lorca, only too late...
