西暦2009年、戦闘種族ゼントラーディと遭遇し、戦闘に入った宇宙戦艦マクロスは今、地球への帰路にあった。土星圏タイタン軌道上で敵の陽動作戦にあい、その艦内に敵部隊の侵入を許してしまう。一方、都市空間を擁する内部では、まさにアイドル歌手リン・ミンメイのファーストコンサートが行われていた。コンサート会場に出現した敵から逃げまどうミンメイ。敵の巨大な手がミンメイを捕らえた瞬間、彼女の前に現れたのは、戦闘機バルキリーのパイロット、一条 輝であった。

The definitive release of a classic
The transfer has been improved over the previous BR, and the violent shots that were cut in that release have been restored. The option to view the film in its original mono audio without the concert sequence or opening title card is also included, and very welcome.
The highlight of the extras is an audio commentary by the cast and crew which is sure to be of interest to any Japanese speakers. The extras also include scans of the theater program and various posters, as well as the original TV spots and trailers.
