Item Description

Mushihimesama has gained an excellent reputation in the arcade. Unlike most shooting games, a rather deep story has been created, along with a unique and colorful view of the world as well as three extraordinary main characters: Reko (a girl born to the royal family of the village of Hoshifuri), Aki (a boy who once lived in the same village) and Kiniro (a stag beetle carrying Reko).Due to its popularity, all three difficulty levels have been implemented into the PlayStation2™ port. An "original mode" suitable for the average gamer, a "maniac mode" for maniacs who like the bullet rain and the especially hard "ultra mode". No matter if you are a beginner or have faith in your abilities and try to get the highscore, there's something for everyone in this game.Exclusively for PS2™, new game modes have been integrated, so you can enjoy a whole new "Mushihimesama". While the original "Arcade Mode" brings the original feeling of the arcade to your home, several arangements have been applied to the new "Arrange Mode". A "Practice Mode" lets you try specific stages or even battle out boss fights from the Arcade Mode. As bonus, 5 galleries have been implemented where you can have a look at sketches, in game screenshots and illustrations. The game scrolls vertically while you kill as many different enemies as possible. Like it is common sense for shooting games, a boss character has to be fought at the end of each stage. A total of 5 stages are available. "Power ups" for your main weapon, "option items" such as lasers, bombs, "Player up" and different score increasing items can be gained and picked up by killing your enemies. In Arcade Mode, three kind of arms and two kind of options can be combined freely. Furthermore, a 2 player simultaneous mode is available, in which the second player can join during each level. In Arrange Mode, six options have been equiped right from the start and additional features have beem implemented such as an "auto bomb" function. During Arrange Mode, a second player cannot join in the middle of a stage.During the Arcade Mode (in "maniac" and "ultra" mode) as well as in the "PS2™ arrange mode", a counter appears when a shot is fired at an enemy. If the enemy is killed at the right time, bouns points will be applied, which is a vital element for those aiming at the highscore.

Bullet Hell
With Futari coming out soon it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick this game up. It's quite challenging and very fun. Be warned that it may give you purple bullet related nightmares

Wow...
As someone who grew up playing shooters years ago, I\'m still relatively new to all the great shooters that still come out of Japan. All I have to say is, \"Wow\"! I\'ve seen some heavy duty shooters before, but the amount of enemy fire in this game is insane! If the other Cave games are like this, then I\'m looking forward to getting more of them ASAP!

yet another cave shmup worth owning!!!
at first glance caves mushihimesama seems to be just another 2d shmup but as we are all aware of by now cave never creates a mediocre game. the use of 2d coupled with 3d creats real depth in the environs. a particularly shinning example of this is lvevel3(i think, lol) where you fight a giant insectoid boss(insects in this game???) that not only encompasses the entirety of the screen but ends up being the length of the entire leve!! this boss instead of looking like layed parellax actually appear to have depth. i guess we should expect nothing less from our friends(and my personal 2d saviors) at cave. i could continue forever.....but wont. buy this game without hesitation!!!! especially at that cheap cheap price!!!
