The 3DS weighs approximately 8 oz. and, when closed, is 5.3 inches wide, 2.9 inches long, and 0.8 inches tall. The system features several additions to the design of the original DS, including a slider on the side of the device that adjusts the intensity of the 3D effect, a round nub analog input called the "Slide Pad", an accelerometer, and a gyroscope. In addition, there is an infra-red communicator port situated on the top of the unit. The 3DS has two cameras on the outside of the device, capable of taking 3D photos and capturing 3D video, as well as a camera positioned above the top screen that faces the player; both cameras have a resolution of 640x480 pixels (0.3 Megapixel). The system also has 3D movie playback capability.Compatible with both Nintendo DS and DSi games, and a new generation of 3DS games.

Not the greatest Nintendo console
I like my 3DS, but I liked my DS a lot more. Region-locking really sucks...

Best handheld game console
To me, this Nintendo 3DS is the best handheld game console. It has many exciting games to be played. I bought it from They shipped it fast in good condition.

By far, one of Nintendo's worst systems
The system is really not all that great. There are very few American games that are worth playing, and the ones that are worth playing are generally games that are over a decade old.
If you feel like you must get a Nintendo 3DS, buy a Japanese one. Japan already has plenty of good games for the system and there are more great games on the way such as Monster Hunter and Hatsune Miku.

Got it for 3D. The effect works well, but may give some people headaches. Got it before price drop so I now have free virtual console games (not in 3D).

Playing Zelda OoT now, utilizes 3DS functions well, for eg accelerometer/gyro to aim your slingshot.

3D camera works well too.

Needs more games, wish the games would be cheaper though.
