On the Verge Of Legendary: Axiom Verge (PSN Digital)

What a time to be a gamer! Between Bloodborne, Pillars of Eternity, and Cities: Skylines, there's been one other recent release that's been keeping our staff up at night. Enter Axiom Verge, a game we've been hyped about for quite sometime, and if you haven't tried it yet, then this might be something to consider.

Released on the 31st of March for the PS4 with a PS Vita and PC version announced, Axiom Verge is based entirely on only one man's sole efforts of creating the game he we always wanted to play - a game that throwbacks to the classic Super Metroid, Blaster Master, Bionic Commando, and Contra, but with all the flourishes made possible with today's hardware. This is Tom Happ's 5 year project - where the development, art, and music cumulated to what was one of 2014's most anticipated independent titles.

With a heavy emphasis on non-linear exploration, lots of amazing weaponry with purpose (the drill is unf), never a wasted pixel in a highly atmospheric and dark world, plus an analog styled soundtrack thick with timbre and resonance, we are really, really digging this title (if you haven't noticed). Not to mention the story in which gamers have been talking about nonstop - a mind blowing gestalt, but we'll leave the spoilers out of this - long story short, check out Axiom Verge once you get the chance! We just wish this came out sooner!

Axiom Verge is $19.99 on the US PSN. If you haven't made a US PSN account, it's really easy - just create a new profile on your PS4, choose North America, pick a state - we would suggest Alaska, input your PSN points, and enjoy!
