description

With the rapid development of robotic hyper technology, a new category of humanoid-type machines called "Labor" has become widely applied in every industry field. However, Labor diffusion has created a new threat to social stability, as the same technology is increasingly being used for criminal purposes. In order to fight the so-called Labor crime, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has formed the Special Vehicle Unit, equipped with Labors designed to keep the pubic order. These patrol Labors are commonly known as Patlabor. The year is 1999, Japan has concentrated 45% of its entire labor force in the ambitious Babylon and 150-meter high multi-level platform called the Ark, has been built on the sea. The suicide of a mysterious man on the massive Babylon Project construction site sets off a cascade of events that may signal on the eventual destruction of Tokyo. What is the connection between the suicide, the new Mobile Police AV-XO Zero Labor, and a military prototype Labor suddenly gone berserk?

Patlabor in HD - affordably!
Worker robots are getting out of control, and it's up to the Patlabors to stop them.
Even if already have DVD, get this, simply because it's the best version you can get without breaking the bank.

Awesome movie
This movie, along with the sequel (which can also be purchased from Playasia) is simply stunning.
It has something that you don't often see in anime, and that's emotion.
The characters all have their own personalities and the scenery is breathtaking.
Blu-ray disc review:
The disc is a bare-bones release and the picture quality is a little mixed. Some scenes are stunning but the dark scenes suffer from contrast and grain issues. I guess the source material was restored as well as it could have been.
This is still the best version of the movie to own.
The soundtrack has been brilliantly restored. Considering the original was only shot in stereo, they've done a fantastic job of re-mixing it into Dolby True HD 5.1
Overall, it's a must buy. The price is great.
While you're at it, snag Patlabor 2 (which is actually a rare example of a sequel surpassing the original) and watch them both back to back.
I can confirm that both movies are locked to region A though.
