There are more music with Mimi and Nyami in Pop'n Music Portable. The colorful rhythm game makes use of the adhoc network facilities, so you can compete with another 3 of your friendds. Challenge your friends even when they didn't bring their PSP's with them. With the 3 button mode, 2 people can play together on the same console.You can take Mimi and Nyami on a musical adventure when you are alone. Beginners can use the Tutorial Mode to level up your skills before taking on the 5, 7 or 9 button challenges. Swap scores with friends and see who has the best music sense.

We Love Pop'n Music
To start off, I believe from what I read is portable is the console port of Pop'n Music 15 Adventure, with about 4 songs not found in the arcade versions (Unless you enter the code from this game into a Pop'n Music 18 Sengoku Retsuden machine).
This is the first Pop'n Music game I owned and played and I automatically got hooked. Being a music game fanatic, I believe that this should be added to your collection if you love music games. This game should not be hard to figure out how everything works since the menus are in english. Only the song names are in Japanese and some of the options (such as adding gimmicks and etc.)
Gameplay is similar to DJ MAX (Without the auto correct system found in Black Square and Fever). Only difference is the amount of buttons. While DJ MAX portable played with 4 to 6 to 8 buttons, pop'n music plays from 5 to 7 to 9 buttons. It takes some getting use to 7 buttons and higher, but it is worth it if you are willing to commit. The game is a bit harder to pass songs, having the same system as Taiko no Tatsujin (Where you have to be above a certain limit on a gauge by the end of a song). It also has 5H, 7H, 9H, and EX charts, adding difficulty by adding more notes. This game is challenging, but it definitely keeps me busy.
The song list is great in my opinion. Definitely consists of a lot of Japanese songs as said in a previous review. But the songs each vary in variety in genres. I have grown to liking a lot of the music in the game.
I definitely consider getting this game if you love music games. I haven't lost interest in the game and I have been playing it non stop since I got it shortly after the release date. The characters, the music, and the game play all equal to a very well made music game from Bemani to the PSP. With no DDR, Beatmania, or other Bemani ports, Pop'n Music makes up for the lack of Bemani games on the PSP. Konami did a great thing to bring Pop'n to the PSP.
*This game is most likely not going to be in the United States after Konami messed up with "Beat'n Groovy" and "Pop'n Music Wii" and the lack of Pop'n Music arcade machines.

If it was any more awesome I'd cry.
Considering i havn't played much P&M before - this real seems like a nice PSP game. the controls work well, and its easy to learn them. Bought this soon as i could, and have yet to grow tired of it. truely worth the money.

Great Jpop Rhythm game for PSP
PSP's been seeing a lot of rhythm games appear from original titles to port of great long running franchises.
Pop'n Music is finally here with great selection of music that you'll unlikely to find in US or Europe. Game plays much like all other button based rhythm games out there, and although game is all in Japanese and has an adventure mode, it's relatively easy to figure out making it import friendly game.
Seeing it's heavy japanese nature, I wouldn't expect this game to make it over to US shores. Much like Taiko no Tatsujin, if you like Japanese music in general, it's worth grabbing this little gem.
