description

Kick butt, take names, and pound punks in this all-new installment of the classic co-op beat-’em-up series!

River City Girls stars Kyoko and Misako, two street-tough high-schoolers who must fight their way through the six regions of River City to rescue their kidnapped boyfriends, series mainstays Kunio and Riki. Along the way, they’ll utilize an arsenal of combos, counters, throws, and special attacks; battle an assortment of enemies; accept numerous side quests; level up with experience points; interact with NPCs (including guest stars from past River City games); and shop for a variety of items, food, and gear to boost stats and unlock new abilities. The girls can even wield weapons and recruit defeated foes to join them in combat!

The one- or local two-player bare-knuckle brawling is complemented by spectacular 16-bit-style graphics and an epic synth-pop soundtrack (featuring NateWantsToBattle, Chipzel, Christina Vee, and Megan McDuffee!), while the story roars to life via glorious anime cutscenes and manga-style intermissions.

Minor Bugs in the game, but Works Better!!
found a few bugs in the game as I updated the game and played. In stage 1 as I began pummeling enemies the music began dj ING! And it stopped nearly in the game stages I began seeing lots of weird glitches but over all I'd expect thar from a game that heavily borrows mechanic from an NES Era system and it's good!! Over all I love this game. Didn't think this game was a crossover and a sequel to Double Dragon and now I'm on the hunt for all River City Ransom series. So I have a tons of work cut out for me. Gotta love the details in the enemies sprites they enlivened in this game, most of them are from the underrated series of Taitos Renegade and Target: Renegade which definitely lends itself very well popular to this day.

Girls Ready to Rumble Old School Beat'em Style (^.^)
The retro feel & nostalgic feelings of old school classic fighting is back. Kyoko and Misako bring glitter, glam and sass to the story which is presented with a manga style which is done very well. You learn new creative moves to aid you in your quest to recover your boyfriends. Actually this game at times made me reminiscence of Double Dragon in away but in such a new creative way. The sound track is catchy and I personally feel the art style from the game play to the cut scenes work well. If you are a fan of the River City games or maybe you enjoyed playing past games such as Double Dragon & Streets of Rage, then you will enjoy this game. The game offers a fair challenge and has some elements of RPG. The game itself is kinda open world as well and enemies do re spawn.
Their is also a "Recruit" system which lets you call on defeated foes in a sorta Marvel vs Capcom-style assistance. I guess the only negatives could be brawler/fighter fatigue and you can find some minor narrative errors but the game has great characters, respect for the history of retro classic gaming and addictive co-op game-play.
