Bealtiful and intresting game
This one mix "detective" games with novel ones, giving some good experience.
The novel part is really good, since it isn't static like most novels, the arts got some movements, giving a better look for the game

Very beautiful and excellent game, never expect a visual novel to be this perfect.

Amazing Trhiller VN
This game is amazing! It's an visual novel with investigative elements (feels like a lighter version of Phoenix Wright series, may be?).

On my first playthrough, it was a so so experience since I finished the "normal" ending, but from my 2nd playthrough on, the game felt SUPER FRESH! because unlike some VNs where they just changed some end game events and called those alternate endings.

In Root Letter, alternate endings mean alternate endings! The last 2 chapters of each ending differ in term of the basic premises underlying the whole story, the events which unfold the story are totally different and all of them (minus the "normal" ending) are very well-written!

Amazing scripts, arts, music and the voice acting are great! The only "let down" of this game is in the 2D animation sequences, they just felt unpolished and some of them were downright BAD! (like student works), my opinion would be that if you can't have your animation on the same standard as other artworks, it's better to stick with still images with higher quality.

But I'm still giving it a 5-stars rating since the game itself is really good and deserves more love.

Good game.
Could be better, but as visual novels go, this is one of the more interesting ones I have played.

The mystery worth unraveling
The game offers great story served in very good pace (8 investigation chapters, 2 for closing), so we are constantly intrigued by it. Characters are unique with their interesting personalities and protagonist isn't irritating (which happens to often in Japanese games). Gameplay is very interactive which serves well this detective story. Also Kadokawa made great work with moving Shimane prefecture to the game, not only in detailed visuals but also with things like regions folklore and even food. As for endings, only one was weird an unsusceptible for me, rest was nicely swinging around facts that are discovered during the game.
That particular Visual Novel will be great not only for genre and Japanese games fans but also for rest of the gamers.
