Rurouni Kenshin 3: The Legend Ends, IMPORT FROM JAPAN

Shot back-to-back with the second entry in the Rurouni Kenshin live-action trilogy, this movie ends the New Kyoto Arc from the original anime series and was the number one box office for four weeks in Japan.

In the cliffhanger-ending of the second movie, Kyoto Inferno, we saw Kenshin Himura reunited with his master who subsequently hides him from bad guy Shishio's henchmen.

As is custom in all martial arts movies, our hero needs to learn a final technique, gain insight into his personality and generally level up in order to stand a chance against his opponents. Once we get past the training part, it is time for Kenshin to gather his friends and confront the villains once and for all.

The whole series culminates into one big final showdown, with all the champions on both sides lining up to duel each other to the death. As it was the case with the first two movies, the choreography of these fight scenes is remarkable, especially considering that most of the cast has no martial arts background.Frantic and with some acrobatics thrown in for good measure, the action is quick paced but still easy to follow.

There are three versions available for purchase right now:

  • Deluxe Edition in Blu-ray and DVD.
  • Regular Edition in Blu-ray and DVD.
  • Complete Blu-ray Box with all three movies and all the special features for each film on three separate additional discs, including the “Making Of Kyoto Inferno/The Legend Ends” special disc from the Deluxe Editions.

Please note that both audio and subtitles of these releases are in Japanese only and are region-coded 2 for the DVD and A for the Blu-ray.

Links of Interest: Part one on DVD or Blu-ray, part two on DVD or Blu-ray and the New Kyoto Arc anime. All of these are with English subtitles.
