I enjoyed watching the Moribito series immensely particularly since it’s rare for anime to have a mature-aged heroine as a leading character.

The Moribito OST 1 CD does not have a strong oriental feel to it like The Twelve Kingdoms but there are hints of it in “Omoi Haruka” (track 1) and “Tamikusa no Sasoi” (track 2). I especially liked the percussion pieces that relate to Balsa’s action scenes like “Karu!” (track 7), “Nigero!” (track 17) and “Barusa Hashiru” (track 24).

I suspect that some of the music were based on images or extras that were not used in the anime. I carefully listened for “Eiyuu Tatsu” (track 26) throughout the anime and hoped that it would accompany a superb battle scene but it looks like it ended up as trailer music. Nevertheless it is still an enjoyable piece and it reflects the heroics of Balsa et al.

I thought “Mizu no Tami” (track 22) was interesting and it reminded me of Yoko Kanno’s unusual but sublime work like Turn-A-Gundam’s “月のくじら” and Earth Girl Arjuna’s “Aqua”.

Excellent Music!!!
I heard the music while watching the show (obviously) and it stuck in my head for days. That is a good thing. The music is great and it fits the show perfectly. Beautiful, relaxing, and awesome. Highly Recommended.
