Item Description

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force are bringing the story of the entire 2013 anime to PlayStation consoles, as well as a number of scenarios that place the spotlight on popular characters that are being developed alongside. All our favorite characters will be represented by the same voice actors used in the anime.

Players will be able to lock into battle against a wide variety of titans. Each titan will have its very own personality, creating a wide range of battle situations that forces the player to choose how they approach it. Your 3D Maneuver Gear’s blades will dull and gas will deplete as you fight, so the game also incorporates a weapon parts exchange element.

Players will use the '3D Maneuver Gear' to zip freely around the sky and battle titans. By using type of action, you can rush quickly to other parts of the battlefield. Your 3D Maneuver Gear's blades will dull and gas will deplete as you fight, so the game also incorporates a weapon exchange element. In order to defeat a titan, it is necessary to attack its neck which means you'll need to attack from high altitudes and defeat titans by first destroying body parts like arms and legs before issuing the killing blow.

Additionally, with the state of battle constantly changing, you will noticed differences within the city such as walls and roofs collapsing as a result of battle. When you come across AI allies, you’ll be able to fight together as companions, as well as provide them instruction for various actions.

Attack on Titan PS Vita
This game is amazing!

I cannot imagine a better way to implement the difficult 3D maneuver gear into a game. I would have never dreamed that the same guys behind the Musou genre, known for pitting one guy against an army, would so perfectly make a game about an army trying to take down one gigantic guy.

The game is Japanese only (unfortunately), but anyone who watched the anime will be able to enjoy it nevertheless. It takes a bit of getting used to the menus, but after a short while you will be zipping around the city, killing titans and buying upgrades for your characters.

The map takes direct inspiration from the musou genre, as does the mission structure. But the feeling is different. Here there is an urgency, as your comrades are being killed left and right. You get distress calls asking for help, sometimes with plenty of time (someone is simply pinned down by Titans) sometimes with almost no time (someone is already grabbed and on the way to being eaten!).

There are several characters and they differ wildly from one another. Armin is weak and barely able to scratch a Titan, whereas Levi is godly and can zip around the map fast while destroying any titans on his way.

Controls are great. The cables from your gear attach realistically to the environment and your character reacts accordingly. So if you are on a flat surface, horses are the way to go. If you are in a city landscape and you attach your cables properly, you can use the momentum to swing around and get anywhere super fast.

At the same time, you need to manage your gas tanks and blade durability, just like in the show!

This thing is addictive. Mowing down titans does not get old.

About the Vita version, obviously the graphics are very much inferior to the PS4 version. Textures are not impressive. There is pop-in. The trees are Ps1 quality. However, performance is flawless. Barely any frame rate dips even in intense action sequences. Movement is fluid and the graphics look great for a portable device. Light years ahead of the 3DS version.

In sum, if you are a fan of the show, rest assured that this is an amazing game that does the source material justice. One of the best anime based games I have played and I cannot wait for them to make a sequel based on the upcoming season 2!
