After numerous rumours, Cave's long awaited PlayStation2™ shooter has finally arrived, ported by Taito, a company with years of experience in the shooting game genre.

Mushihimesama has gained an excellent reputation in the arcade. Unlike most shooting games, a rather deep story has been created, along with a unique and colorful view of the world as well as three extraordinary main characters: Reko (a girl born to the royal family of the village of Hoshifuri), Aki (a boy who once lived in the same village) and Kiniro (a stag beetle carrying Reko).

Due to its popularity, all three difficulty levels have been implemented into the PlayStation2™ port. An "original mode" suitable for the average gamer, a "maniac mode" for maniacs who like the bullet rain and the especially hard "ultra mode". No matter if you are a beginner or have faith in your abilities and try to get the highscore, there's something for everyone in this game.

Exclusively for PS2™, new game modes have been integrated, so you can enjoy a whole new "Mushihimesama". While the original "Arcade Mode" brings the original feeling of the arcade to your home, several arrangements have been applied to the new "Arrange Mode". A "Practice Mode" lets you try specific stages or even battle out boss fights from the Arcade Mode. As bonus, 5 galleries have been implemented where you can have a look at sketches, in game screenshots and illustrations.

The game scrolls vertically while you kill as many different enemies as possible. As it is common sense for shooting games, a boss character has to be fought at the end of each stage. A total of 5 stages are available. "Power ups" for your main weapon, "option items" such as lasers, bombs, "Player up" and different score increasing items can be gained and picked up by killing your enemies.

In Arcade Mode, three kinds of arms and two kinds of options can be combined freely. Furthermore, a 2 player simultaneous mode is available, in which the second player can join during each level. In Arrange Mode, six options have been equipped right from the start and additional features have been implemented such as an "auto bomb" function. During Arrange Mode, a second player cannot join in the middle of a stage.

During the Arcade Mode (in "maniac" and "ultra" mode) as well as in the "PS2™ arrange mode", a counter appears when a shot is fired at an enemy. If the enemy is killed at the right time, bonus points will be applied, which is a vital element for those aiming at the highscore.

If you have enjoyed Arika's PS2™ shooting ports Do Don Pachi Daioujou DV and Espgaluda (in our opinion among the best - yes probably indeed THE best - shooters available on PS2™), then you do not want to miss out Mushihimesama. Mushihimesama is in stock today at US$ 59.90 (for the regular version) as well as US$ 69.90 (for a Limited Edition that includes a special Princess Reko childhood figure.

True Cave and shooting fans should also not miss out on the Mushihimesama Original Sound Track (shipping including a more adult type Princess Reko figure). The soundtrack album is only sold through Cave's official Japanese phone ordering procedure system and has been made available internationally through Play-Asia.com. In stock at US$ 44.90 only.

Based on the popular Japanese TV anime series (Fullmetal Alchemist, also known as Hagaren), Square-Enix's action RPG PlayStation2™ series goes into the third round. This time you will encounter an original story taking place in a metropolis called Valdora, exclusively written for the game and not previously seen in any anime.

You will control Alphonse Eric and his older brother Edward, getting rid of all sorts of baddies using your standard as well as Fullmetal alike magical attacks. New in this series is a split screen cooperative mode, which allows two players to play at the same time. During single play you can change characters between Alphonse Eric and Edward resulting into a different story flow.

Square-Enix's Fullmetal Alchemist 3: Kami o Tsugu Shoujo - which subtitle translates to The Girl who Inherited God is in stock today shipping at US$ 64.90. Available at the same time is the main theme song Kanashimi no Kizu (performed by Nana Kitade and published by Sony Music) at US$ 11.90 only.

Previously released on various classical and current platforms, Hudson's Famicom™/NES™ shooter Star Soldier is hitting the Sony PSP™ - and is at the same time the very first standalone shooting game available for the handheld.

Though the concept of the game remains, Star Soldier received technical improvements in terms of graphic and sound, living up to gaming standards of this time.
