Item Description

Sega's original Sonic The Hedgehog, which premiered on the Genesis/Mega Drive back in 1991 has returned for the GBA to mark his fifteenth birthday. Optimized to make use of modern updated technology, the audio has been refined to sound much more improved. Sonic may have come along way since 1991, but what better way for those who never owned the original classic to pick it up now. You can play the game in its original form, or with the added spin-dash as was made available in Sonic Jam on the Saturn. If you already own the Sonic Advance games, you might want to pick this us for nostalgic reasons, or just to add to your collection, or see just how far Sonic The Hedgehog has come in his Fifteen years.

Not what I expected
I was expecting just a Genesis game ported, to a more capable and portable console, yet it was just really messy and felt extremelly rush just as a cash in.

Then again, this just shows more and more proof on why Sega is going downhill (except for Sonic Generations not too long ago).

Spits on the original game
Sonic the Hedgehog is a classic Genesis game, with fast-paced action and memorable music.

The GBA port however is a miserable pile of bugs, nearly every aspect was done poorly.
Sound effects are not the same, many are inappropriate.
Music has not been faithfully recreated.
Graphics even suffer as the sprites are sloppily animated.

Most importantly, the game is unplayable, Sonic handles terrible due to a number of bugs in the engine and collision detection, and there is lots of slowdown.

Do NOT buy this game, if you want portable Sonic, get a GP2X Wiz!
