A very endearing movie. it is for children, but adults can enjoy it too.

Best Anime Ever
While the animation isn't as detailed in this film as other animes, it's very distinct and appealing. But that isn't what really makes this movie what it is. The story is the best I've ever seen from Japan and even rivals the best children's films from the west. Everything that happens to the characters in this film seems so authentic and sincere that you just get drawn into the the conflict and some scenes will even bring you to tears. It teaches great lessons about life, adversity, bias, friendship and sacrifice to the extent that I've never seen a film do before. It's really unfortunate this film got overlooked in the west. It deserves a spot with the other legendary animated classics.

This should have won it!
If The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (which is great BTW) can win the best anime in 2006, this could have won movie of the year the same year. Sadly it didn't make it for both awards.

This is a MUST HAVE !! I have watched this hundreds of times and it never gets old.
