Great character designs, great battle system
This Japanese RPG is worth buying if you have some Japanese skill. What's more important than good looking and erotic character designs is the battle system. It requires skills to make a combo that does a massive damage. It's about power management and timing. You'll not get bored because it's not about pushing A and wait, ... [read more...]

features

  • The game contains both battle parts and adventure parts. Proceed through the adventure part by reading the texts and choosing options on the command menu.
  • Be sure to check out the shops, not only are the characters full of vitality, even the merchants are interesting characters.
  • Clear obstacles on the road by Haken's weapon. Stand directly in front of the block and press the A button to smash it to powder.
  • The game uses a turn based command system. Four characters can enter battle at one time the other characters can be put on stand by. Make use of the game's support system by switching characters from standby mode to battle mode.

description

Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Taisen is an unorthodox sci-fi RPG that sets stage in a realm called Endless Frontier. Endless Frontier itself is a combination of a variety of worlds separated by dimensional walls.Journey around this realm through cross gates and meet the inhabitants such as beastmen, mermaids, androids, demons and robots who have travelled from other realms. The game's protagonist is a bounty hunter called Haken Browning who came from Lost Elensia, a world of advanced technology. Travel around in this realm, get to know the worlds and battle to save it with your friends.

Great game for fans of SRW and PXZ
I can see how the battle system has inspired the one from the Project X Zone games on 3DS. Try juggling enemies while aiming to hit at the last minute before they touch the ground to score critical hits. Battles are random encounters, and you will battle multiple enemies at a time while taking turns.

The dungeon maps are based on exploration and trying to open new paths and finding items, which is unusual, but welcome, for SRW games.

The music is what you would expect from the series. I had a big smile when Lamia Loveless' theme song started playing after Aschen Brödel transformed for the first time in order to bust a door with a Genbu Spike! :D

Highly recommended for anyone who played previous SRW OG or PXZ games!

A very misunderstood game with a decent battle system
Putting the character designs aside, this game has some very addictive battle system.

The objective is to avoid a "Forced Evasion" while attacking and to attempt the highest number of hits and damage possible. It is a very satisfying system if you can manage to pull the attack sequence off.
You also get some cool animations when finishing moves are used.

With so much focus on battle, there are some cons.
The world map, town menu and menu in general are a bit of an eye sore for a game that has many good action sequence in battle.
However, you will be fighting enemies majority of the time that you probably won't care in the end.
There is also no touch screen support. It is such a pity because the feature worked kinda well in SRWW.

It requires skills to make a combo that does a massive damage. It's about power management and timing. You'll not get bored because it's not about pushing A and wait, repeatedly.

After you finished the game, you can start again with the equipments and money you've got.
