Grief-Stricken after the death of his mother, nine-year-old boy Ren decides to live on the streets of Shibuya district rather than with his legal guardians or alienated father.
At the same time in the Beast Kingdom, the Beast Lord has decided to retire and Kumametsu, a gruff, lazy beast warrior, has a chance to become his successor if he manages to train a disciple.
As movie conventions demand, these two opposite characters meet, travel to the beast realm and gradually become master and student. Eight years go by and Ren slowly rediscovers his abandoned existence in the human world, leaving him torn between both sides of his life. And that is just the beginning of events that might lead to the destruction of both realms.
