The Empire of Corpses HK Version on Pre-order until August 11th!

The Empire of Corpses

From Wit Studio, who produced Attack on Titan, comes a steampunk adventure anime. If you haven't heard of this one, The Empire of Corpses is the adaptation of a Project Itoh novel, the Japanese science fiction writer who also wrote Harmony and Genocidal Organ.

The story is set in 19th century London, in a world that has been revolutionized by “corpse reanimation technology”. Armies of the undead serve the living as labor-slaves. In an attempt to revive his recently deceased friend, young medical student John Watson becomes obsessed with replicating Dr. Victor Frankenstein's work of giving corpses a soul. But his illegal experiments soon plunge him into a race around the world to find the lost research notes of Frankenstein before the secrets of the human soul fall into the wrong hands.

The Empire of Corpses will be released on August 11th on Hong Kong Blu-ray and DVD. Be aware that this version includes Chinese subtitles only. For English subtitles and dubbing, refer to the US version. Ride along on an adventure with Watson and other famous literary characters in this zombie-filled victorian England!

Don’t miss Project Itoh’s other film adaptation Harmony, which also explores the meaning and value of the human soul. The anime is set in a utopian future, shaped by an obsession with medical nanotechnology. In this seemingly perfect world, three young girls commit the ultimate act of rebellion by attempting suicide. Tuan Kirie accidentally survives and grows up to be a member of the World Health Organization. Years later, waves of mass suicides hit and threaten the harmony of the new world. As Tuan launches an investigation, she discoveres that her long dead rebellious friend Miach might be involved.
