They live. We sleep. Three John Carpenter Classics in Awesome Collector’s Editions!

John Carpenter is without a doubt one of the most influential genre directors of our time. He defined the slasher, horror and thriller genre for a whole generation with classics like The Thing, Halloween, Assault on Precinct 13 and Dark Star. Even his more controversial entries like Prince of Darkness and In the Mouth of Madness are flawed but really interesting movies. Just be less judgmental about his works from the 90s onward. Mr. Carpenter does turn 70 next year, so give the guy some slack!

We now have three of his best early works as special limited edition steelbook Blu-rays that every fan should call their own: The FogEscape From New York and They Live.

The Fog is a perfect example of a slow-burn horror movie about a vengeful crew of leprous undead pirates. Arrr, I got a steering wheel down me pants and it's driving me ... oh, never mind!

Escape From New York is Kurt Russel’s most iconic role as the ultimate anti-hero “Call me Snake” Plissken in the far away dystopian future of 1997. When all-important information will be saved on cassette tapes. Those hipster politicians! Oh and btw, this movie is the reason why Solid Snake is called Plissken in Metal Gear Solid 2.
And lastly, there is They Live featuring the late wrestling legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper as a blue collar mullet man fighting an alien/ capitalist conspiracy. Subversive, clever and including one of the longest brawl scenes in history, this movie resonates today much stronger than at the time of its release. Just look at the brand Obey or listen to Duke Nukem’s bubble gum quote (to give non-political examples). Uncle John was just far ahead of his time with this one!
