CODE: HARDCORE - Rocket Punch Kickstarter Campaign
2D Mecha Platformer | Steam, PS4 (Stretch Goal)

Indie developers Rocket Punch have recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for their awesome new 2D mecha platformer Code: HARDCORE - and it looks like a guaranteed success as they're nearly at their 65K goal, with 40 days to go! The game is estimated to release in October 2017, but you can pledge to become a "Super Tester" right now and get the "VS Battle Demo" right after the initial goal is reached. Super Testers will also receive ALL versions of alpha demos before official release!

Our co-workers are all making their contributions to try and get to the 77K stretch goal - where the devs will include a PS4 release! The stretch goal has been met! Code: HARDCORE will be coming to PS4! See if their game is something you'd like to help kickstart!

Code: HARDCORE will be releasing with ENGLISH, JAPANESE, & CHINESE subtitles!

Developer's description from Kickstarter:

Code: HARDCORE is a high-quality 2D platform shooting game designed to deliver an amazing gaming experience to every player. The game offers awesome features such as different styles of mechs, various elite weapons, unique items, stunning skins, smooth gaming control, hardcore combat feelings, and high-quality animations. Deadly unique combination of fighting styles are completely controlled and created by the player. Through various combinations, the player can create their own exclusive fighting styles.

If you are a mecha fan, DO NOT miss Code: HARDCORE !!!

We have to agree with the developers here - Code: HARDCORE is exactly the type of game we're excited to play! Currently the demo supports local multiplayer for Steam, and upon release will have a full online mode. The game will of course release with a single player story in an exciting world where you take on the role of a soldier fighting in the great mech war! The single player portion of the title will have three different game modes on launch: Arcade Mode, Survival Mode, & Story Mode.

One thing to note is Code: HARDCORE can be played by using a classic joystick, with the controls being compared to both Metal Slug and Contra by the developers. Players will be able to fly and dash at any time and aim using a manual aiming feature.

Mecha variety, customization, and quality are a must for any good mecha game, and Code: HARDCORE continues to tick boxes! Mecha in the game will have weapon and skills selection, where different weapons will have different effects depends on the mecha you choose!

Once a player's mecha has broken their pilot will be ejected and will have a different set of abilities until they can repair their mecha, or steal another one! Currently there are three pilots to choose from: Hack, Sneak, & Destroy. The single player campaign will have missions centered around the pilots, where they may have to get up to tasks such as hacking an enemy mecha.

If you're able to get your hands on the demo, or check out some gameplay on YouTube its easy to see that Code: HARDCORE has the gameplay chops. However, a lot of the talk has been around how gorgeous the 2D animation really is! The Rocket Punch art team really do deserve all the recognition they are currently receving - from the beautiful Japanese-style 'Ultimate Skill' cutscenes to the insanely detailed sprites you can tell a lot of effort went into the game's overall aestethic. The result are mecha designs with animations you can almost feel, as the huge metal suits stomp around the battlefield.

We'll definitely keep our eyes on the project as it progresses and keep you all updated on any key features and stretch goals that Rocket Punch add on to the very popular campaign! If you want to ask the developers any questions about the game they are active on Twitter.
