Transformers Masterpiece: Shockwave and Hot Rod!

The newest and greatest from TakaraTomy's Collector focused The Transformers: Masterpiece line are now available! Although the original toys had an archaic "I can only pose the arms up and/or down" charm, these figures take more than meets the eye to the next level!

"Ultimately, I serve only one master... pure logic."

Perhaps even more powerful than Megatron, this generation one Decepticon has garnered a cult following of fans of the Transformers universe. His cold and calculating modus operandi exhibits one of the most memorable characteristics of all the Decepticons, as this strict adherence to pure logic is at a stark difference from all his often volitile emotional contemporaries, and is perfect for his position as the steward of Cybertron.

Based on his G1 Cartoon iteration and probably the most accurate depicition of Shockwave yet, this this highly articulate figure retains the original flashing light feature seen in his large Cybertronian gun transformation.

Shockwave comes with a gamut of accessories too, from a bunch of hand parts, translucent and opaque gun barrels + saluting right hand, the mini Shockwave gun (As Seen On TV™) and a stand that acts as a backpack while in robot form for continuity. The only thing missing is his signature and emotionless voice, but then again, perhaps it's more logical to stay silent until the time comes for when Megatron becomes too unhinged...

"You Got The Touch! You Got The Pooooweeeerrrr!" - one cannot help but hear these iconic lyrics every time the Autobot Hot Rod is mentioned; synonymous with brash youth and endless potential, this masterpiece edition of the robot features the one true heir to the Matrix Of Leadership, before his eventual transformation into Rodimus Prime.

Accurate and extremely posable, Hot Rod is built in the likeness of his cartoon form, and careful steps have been taken by TakaraTomy to match his rebellious look. From his twin blasters that can be attached to his car form, built in sunglasses, buzzsaw hand attachment, a spot for the Matrix, and even the movie authentic fishing rod from his scene with Spike in Transformers the Movie, everything is there.

Hot Rod is also scaled with the other cars of the Masterpiece series, and can be carried by any convoy attachment in the other figures of the series.

PlayStation®4 Xbox ONE™ PlayStation®3 Xbox360™ [Action Beat Em Up] Release: Oct 6th, 2016

When we posted the first reveal trailer waaaaay back, many gamers were indeed excited to learn about a PlatinumGames developed Transformers game featuring the original generation - the hype combined with nostalgia was absolutely real, but there was no news at all immediately after.

Usually, when titles have little to no marketing - and in this case, review copies weren't even sent out until a day before release, confidence immediately dies down, but from what we've seen so far, Transformers: Devastation is a childhood dream finally realized.

As an high paced action game similar to the PlatinumGames style (Bayonetta, Vanquish, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance), players will get to choose from five classic Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sidewipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock, each with their character specific traits and transformations.

In massive 3D environments, gameplay is extremely focused on bringing the unique transformation aspect to life as the ability to switch between vehicle and robot mode is essential - players can chain together melee attacks, ram nearby enemies as a car, and finish with a barrage of bullets, all in an amazing PlatinumGames flourish.

There is also a careful attention to detail with not only the slick cell shaded visuals, but with audio; original voice actors reprise their roles from Autobot to Decepticon: Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime), Dan Gilvezan (Bumblebee), Michael Bell (Sideswipe, Scrapper), Gregg Berger (Grimlock, Long Haul) and Frank Welker (Megatron, Soundwave). Even the music is written by Vince DiCola and Kenny Meriedeth, the original composers for the 80's television show!

And there's even a bigger surprise for fan: Andy Schmidt, Transformers comic writer/editor pens a fitting new story; it's honestly as if the game is just an extension of all the epic memories from the past.

Released this a few weeks ago, to quote Optimus Prime  - "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" - if you're a fan, you might not even have a choice - you will definitely want to pick Transformers: Devastation up!
