WEEKLY SPECIAL: Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires, Bladestorm: Nightmare, Sengoku Musou Chronicle 3, & MORE!

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is a standalone expansion to Dynasty Warriors 8/Xtreme Legends.

As well the addition of the new character Xun Yun, the entire Xtreme Legends roster will appear in Empires. Empire Mode will now include all new dramatic events while the Fame system has been tweaked to allow the option to explore different play styles.

The 3rd iteration of Dynasty Warriors 8 brings the player all the hack and slash action we've grown to love, along with precise expansions on gameplay and graphics. Features from previous installments will be returning, such as all the previous game modes as well as the multiple weapon types, while also including many expansions on these existing concepts.

The many available stratagems from the previous Empires title will be making their way into the lastest version but with enhanced features. One of the most notable inclusions are the new grand-scale strategems that take much longer to enact but impact the battlefield in a much more meaningful way. Adding a healthy dose of immersion (and all around a cool feature) is the introduction of weather conditions and time itself - which can affect the effectiveness of certain stratagems and change the appearance of the battlefield.

Players can keep and reuse their previous edit characters since the same edit features return in this title. You can also edit the appearances of your banner, soldiers, horses, and even create scenarios to upload for online sessions.

Koei Tecmo are bringing the Bladestorm series back, and along with it comes many enhancements to the game as well as the introduction of fantasy creatures and themes in what is being referred to as Bladestorm: Nightmare!

With new fantasy elements at Koei Tecmo's disposal rumor has it that the legendary Joan of Arc will be leading an army of monsters in the Nightmare sections of the game. You don't need to have studied European history to realize Koei Tecmo Games are straying from the source material, but who can say no to dragons and a giant cyclops?

If you are unfamiliar with Bladestorm: Hundred Years' War it is an action/strategy musou game developed by the likes of Akihiro Suzuki, best known for his work on the world famous Dynasty Warriors series.

As you move throughout the battlefield players can join different squads, like calvary or spearmen, essentially changing your class on the go. Described by Koei Tecmo as "a strategy game at its core" it would not be surprising to see gameplay additions made to the game that distinguish it further from others within the hack and slash genre.

Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 is the latest Chronicles entry which uses Samurai Warriors 4 as its base.

Creating and maintaining relationships with officers and warriors is a very important part of Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3, as it allows players to listen in on their thoughts and plans, and affect them to their desired result. In that way, the game takes a different turn as the story mode is completely in the player’s hands and the outcomes of battles, alliances, and ultimately the conclusion of the game, are altered by their actions.

The story mode of the game that follows the Protagonist as the major events of the Sengoku era unfold. The layout is similar to historical mode in Samurai Warriors 3, with events littered between the battles on a scroll timeline.
