Product Features

  • A Family Patriarch's Ransom of New Content - “Kiwami” literally translates to “extreme,” and the game was named that for good reason. Not just a simple graphical upgrade, Kiwami adds nearly 30 minutes of cutscenes alone, providing all-new insight into the game's plot and creating common threads with series prequel Yakuza 0. There's also added distractions (Pocket Circuit car racing, MesuKing: Battle Bug Beauties, new hostesses, and more), side quests, combat updates, re-recorded Japanese dialogue, and more to bring the original Yakuza game into the latest console generation
  • A Place for Newcomers and Veterans - Yakuza Kiwami is the ultimate bridge in the series: newcomers or those whose Yakuza experience started with Yakuza 0 will have familiar, exacting controls, top-notch SEGA localization, and a solid starting point for entering the Yakuza franchise fresh. Veterans will experience a familiar Kamurocho and plot, but with new levels of story depth and graphical polish
  • But it was me! Majima! - Completely new to Kiwami is the "Majima Everywhere" system, where the series' deranged, one-eyed maniac will constantly surprise and challenge Kiryu to combat when he least expects it. We're talking "popping out of a goofy costume" levels of surprise, so players must stay on their toes and be ready to defend themselves from Kiryu's chief rival
  • Extreme Revitalization - Kiwami is rebuilt from the ground up with all new HD assets, exclusive Japanese voice audio re-recorded by the series cast, and more; optimized for the PlayStation 4 and running in 1080p/60fps. And following suit with SEGA's commitment to the Yakuza series, the game will release in both physical and digital formats in the west

As the thunderclaps, gunshots ring out from the Dojima Family office. Kiryu arrives to find Nishikiyama holding the smoking gun over Dojima's dead body, and Yumi in shock from the trauma.

Kiryu makes a decision that will change his life forever. Sending Nishikiyama out of the room to look after Yumi, Kiryu picks up the gun as the police arrive to arrest the culprit...

The year is 2005. Akira Nishikiyama has become a changed man. Yumi is nowhere to be found. Ten billion yen has gone missing from the Tojo Clan's coffers, putting the organization on the brink of civil war. And Kazuma Kiryu is released from prison to a world he no longer recognizes.

Punch More Dudes: The Revision.
Intense, hilarious, tragic and heartwarming, Yakuza Kiwami puts you on an emotional roller-coaster from start to finish with its modernized and updated game design (using assets from 0) while retaining what made the original a cult classic.

A must have for both newcomers and longtime fans of the series.

Excellent game
After Yakuza 5, it's actually pretty nice to have a game that focuses solely on Kiryu and Kamurocho. The story's as interesting as it was ten years ago, and all the new things to see and do are no less fun than they've ever been. If you don't mind maybe not being able to follow all the plot or substories, then you'll definitely enjoy this as much as any other Yakuza.

A must have!
There have been so many remakes and remasters of popular games lately that it's almost hard to keep track of them all. However, Ryu Ga Gotoku Kiwami is one that you absolutely should not miss!
It manages to revive one of the greatest stories in gaming with not only next gen graphics but it adds so much more! There are brand new cutscenes expanding the original story and filling all of its plot holes, the gameplay has been completely refined and made similar to the latest entry Ryu Ga Gotoku Zero. New minigames have been added such as karaoke that first appeared in RGG3, or a brand new 'Majima Everywhere' mode, which pretty much speaks for itself. The hostess conversations are now fully voiced similar to RGG5 and more voice acting has also been added to some previously unvoiced story scenes.
Overall, this is probably the best ground up remake I've ever played and we can only wish that other developers would follow Sega's example.
