Yet another stellar package on the PSP by Falcom who seem to be able to do no wrong of late. I absolutely loved Ys I & II back in the day and becoming reacquainted after all these years later has proven to be a blast. A word of warning for those who know the series through recent installments 6 & 7... at it's core Chronicles is as old-school as it gets. I for one, though, am glad Falcom haven't dramtically altered the gameplay. And moreso that Falcom have gone all out presentation-wise with two nuanced game versions (Complete & Chronicles), a dizzying amount of sound track options, and the common sense to hand the translation over to the peerless Xseed.
Oh and the bonus soundtrack is fantastic. The Ys series has some of the best VGM ever & if the limited edtion 'Hair Metal Pack' is still available, pounce on it. You won't regret it.

Wonderful game
I've only heard about the game but never played it. When I first played it, I was surprised at several features.
Firstly, the simple control. The first game only require the direction key and R button. The second game need x button, too, but it is not that hard job!
Secondly, the music is awesome. I know that the game has three types of music and I think the most recent one(Chronicle version) sounds nice.
Thirdly, the storyline is not complecated and it is really straight forward that it is quite easy.

Awesome!
Ys I & II chronicles's gameplay is as same as Ys I & II eternal/complete pc version, but psp version offers two game modes to select newly drawn in-game character portraits or more classic version from Ys I & II eternal/complete . PC-88, complete and psp - arranged version of soundtracks are also available, however, the only fly in the ointment is the absence of soundtrack from Ys on turbografx 16.
Anyway psp version is a must-buy for every Ys fans.
