Fighting over food? Usual or not? Weird or normal? Well, in this upcoming upbeat game this January 2018, looks like it’s a typical thing to do battles for the sake of having a meal. What an extraordinary kind of game to start the year, right? As a matter of fact, this game is a re-release of Super Famicom games which is titled Gourmet Sentai Bara Yarou developed by the same creators of Cho Aniki. It is a side-scrolling action game that was originally released in 1995 by Virgin Interactive Entertainment and was developed by Winds Co., Ltd. The game is a mix of sci-fi, fantasy and futuristic beat ’em up game for the SNES platform exclusively for Japan.

It all started out from the tragic fire incident of a nuclear World War III, sometime in the 21st century. The City of Zeus Heaven Magic City miraculously recovered from that horrible circumstance. However, the City is suffering from an oppressive secret organization causing uncontrollable violence. This Mafia even cuts off the capital’s most important essential to their everyday lives, which is food. Unfortunately, this has become a survival issue in this devastated world. By this means, the city administrators discovered a solution to deter the cruelty of this Mafia and it is through selecting three fighters to battle the hordes of the enemy. The three chosen warriors to defend the City are identified as Bonjour, Mademoiselle, and Très Bie who has a powerful armor that highlights their muscles. These three individuals were then officially transformed into fighting robots and were sent out of the battlefield to save the city.

Since this game is just a re-release from its 1995 version, the game is supposedly unchanged and excellent. But if you haven’t heard of it yet, this game is composed of five stages and has a time limit. When the timer reaches zero, the players lose all the ingredients that were acquired. However, the game has no concept of how many lives the player can have in the game; it’s an automatic game over if the player dies. Some of the enemies that players will encounter in this game are zombie-ish looking that have very phallic blades that slip out of their bodies; Moai, which are giant floating heads that attack the players by sneezing and mauling the players’ crotch. The Moai are rode upon by tiny humanoid enemies (which flail about when the Moai is attacked).
When the Moai are torn down, the tiny people jump onto the players head and stomp on it until the player attacks them or simply walk over their small bodies. Sometimes, the mini guys walk onto the stage carrying land-mines, which they will hide beneath and try to trick the player into stepping on. There are almost naked “human cannonballs” in the later levels which like to soar across the screen. Female enemies resembling Playboy Bunnies appear from the third level on, with one enrobing mechanized armor during a battle with the boss.
