Since very old times, the trees have been recognized as sacred beings inspiring the men with their cyclical process of decay & rebirth making them a symbol of life, death, and rebirth. The universally renowned myth of the “World Tree” which branches can reach the celestial world of the gods while the roots go deep down to the heart of the underworld.
Trees are also present in a vast array of beliefs from all over the world such as the Norse Yggdrasil who connect our planet (Midgard) to eight other realms (made fire, ice, darkness or light), the Buddhist Bodhi tree which under its branches the Buddha has gained enlightenment, the Biblical Tree of Knowledge that allowed Adam and Eve to obtain wisdom, without forgetting the fierce Treebeard appeared in the Lord of the Rings.
In other words, due to their connections to the divine, the trees could be referred as a sort of earthly gods which are often worshipped by shamans, monks, and priests as gateways to other dimensions.

A long time forgot legend tells that in a far land, there’s a miraculous tree called “Tree of Mana” which is the source of a mystical form of energy called Mana that is vital to maintaining the balance of nature and it’s recognized as the origin of everything.
Centuries ago one person tried to restrain this Force forging a magic sword that eventually covered the whole land with evil, this is the story of the wielder of this sword and his attempt to restore the harmony finding the seeds of the Tree of Mana…welcome in the fantastic world of Secret of Mana!

Originally planned for the legendary Super Famicom CD-ROM peripheral, and released in 1993 on cartridge after the project’s cancellation, the second episode of the beloved Seiken Densetsu series – started in 1991 on Game Boy with Final Fantasy Adventure – is without any doubt one of the greatest JRPGs ever released by Squaresoft even today collecting great scores on all the reviews.
