It’s time once again to dust off your Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis as Piko Interactive is bringing two retro titles back to life. These two Sega Mega Drive Titles are Generals of the Yang Family and Water Margin – The Tales of Clouds and Winds.
Both titles were originally released exclusively in China. But Piko Interactive came into action to localized them for the West. Piko Interactive acquired the full rights and enhanced the games. Players can now enjoy the game from the beginning to end.

Generals of the Yang Family
Piko Interactive is known for publishing games on old consoles. If you remember, they are the same team behind the game Duke Nukem which was released for Genesis in the West. And last May, Piko Interactive was released.
Spoiler: This video game is completely basic retro game. There are no power-ups and no weapons featured in the game.
So if you are into this simple game style, this is for you. Clan of Heroes – Generals of the Yang Family is your classic retro beat ’em up for the Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis.
The game’s story is based on ancient Chinese stories and folklore songs. The story involves a family of warriors helping to defend China from a group of invading forces. The game allows you to choose from the four playable warriors to protect your country. You can find the description of each character below:
- Old man with a slow but long-range powerful attack.
- A samurai-type character with a sword.
- A martial arts-based strong man with good speed.
- And a weak female character with super fast speed.
So among these four playable characters, there are two good picks. The samurai-type character and the martial arts-based strong guy.

Water Margin: A Tale of Clouds and Wind
Water Margin – The Tales of Clouds and Winds is another beat ’em up video game of Sega Genesis. Initially, the game was marketed exclusively in China (Taiwan and Hong Kong) during the late 90’s.
And again, Piko Interactive came to the rescue. Piko Interactive acquired full copyright of the game, gave it an overhaul, and localized it. Now, the game successfully made its launch last May.
The game is based on the Chinese novel of the same name. It sets in Mount Liang where a group of 3 playable criminals gathered. The story tells how these 3 outlaws gather at Mount Liang before they are granted amnesty by the government.
The three characters are sent on a mission to combat foreign invaders and defeat rebel forces.
Most of the changes of the games are:
- Translation of the game story, cut-scenes, and different endings.
- Translation of character names.
- Bug fixes and gameplay fixes.
