What to Expect in the game?

Codemasters’ F1 2018 Headline Edition is the most recent version of the Formula One simulation series. According to the developer, this time, F1 2018 possess an overall look and feel that is so much closer to reality. From the car models, character renders, the atmosphere, visual effects, and animations. In addition, the audio front engine sounds are also improved. All of these elements have been perfectly rebuilt for a more realistic feel.

“The biggest win visually is in the atmospherics. This year we’ve got a full atmospherics system that gives you a greater sense of depth from the scene, and it makes for some really stunning vistas. One of the most iconic things for me about F1® as a sport is seeing that heat haze on the start straight: the heat rising from the track and from the engine exhausts, and in the mirage effect that you see reflecting in the track. We’ve added a full heat haze and mirage system to our visual effects for this year, and it makes a huge difference in the replay cameras and on track when you’re racing.”

Furthermore, Senior Audio Designer on F1 2018, Brad Porter, also shared his comment about the audio improvements. Check it out below.

“We try to make the engine sounds as close to broadcast as possible, which is what a lot of fans ask for. We’ve been over to tracks such as Abu Dhabi, Barcelona and Paul Ricard over the last year, working directly with F1® teams, going into garages with them on test sessions, mic’ing up the cars on board with our new radio gear, and then we’re standing at the side of the track for external recordings. We’re also in the garages recording ambisonics, we’re out in the paddock, and we’re out in the pit lane.” Brad added: “From an audio point of view, the game is now sounding far more believable and far more authentic.”

The Return of Two Exclusive Classic Cars

Codemasters released a trailer for F1 2018 that reveals two classic Formula One cars included in the game that will be available as a DLC. These include the 2009 Brawn BGP-001, driven by the World Champion, Jenson Button, and his teammate Rubens Barichello.

The 2003 Williams FW25 of Juan Palo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher will also be included in F1 2018 Headline Edition. Both of these classic cars will be available as a post-launch DLC at a later date.

New Career Mode

F1 2018 Headline Edition doesn’t just have a new career mode. Rather, it now has a new and improved career mode. In comparison to the F1 2017, F1 2018 has developed a more in-depth career mode. Codemasters has executed a new narrative with some RPG elements in it.

Once players have created their own driver, they are tasked to answer some series of questions from the reporters. And remember, the way you answer their questions can affect the way your team treats you.

Featuring all of the official teams, the drivers and all 21 circuits of the 2018 season, F1 2018 sees the return of the French Grand Prix for the first time since 2008, at the Circuit Paul Ricard, which last hosted the French Grand Prix in 1990.
