Castlevania Requiem for PS4 – The night is still young!!!

Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood!

PlayStation®4 Ι Genre: Gothic Action Compilation

Present since Mesopotamian ages, the mythos of the vampire is still one of the most sinister creatures of the world. But it’s only in the late 16th Century that this bloodthirsty being became so famous to conquer the bodies and the souls of many living ones. Let’s go back to 1738; when the word “vampire” appeared for the very first time in a text entitled “Travels of three gentlemen from Venice to Hamburg, being the Grand Tour of Germany in the year 1734” written by an anonymous author. But it’s only with the Romanticism that they spread their influence among the masses. And this is due to the Irish novelist Bram Stoker; who in 1897 published a book who invented Gothic fiction, influencing the culture of the time in such a groundbreaking way. Even nowadays he’s remembered (wrongly) as the first creator of the vampiric figure; obviously we’re talking of Dracula!

Recovering the story of Vlad the Impaler (Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia and member of the Ottoman Order of the Dragon) Stoker has transformed him in a Transylvanian nobleman who moved to London to spread his cursed lineage of night creatures.
Due to the success of this bestseller; the Count Dracula has appeared in thousands of books, movies, music albums, radio shows, toys, video games, and many other media. With so much exposure; he became one of the greatest global pop-icons of all time.

Without any doubt, the most popular game series starring Dracula is Castlevania (悪魔城ドラキュラ). Originally published by Konami in 1986 for the Nintendo Family Computer Disk System; the first chapter of this long-life series follows the story of Simon Belmont. Born in 1669, he started the career of vampire killer at the age of 22 when the Count Dracula rose from darkness 100 years after the defeated by Christopher Belmont. During its 32 years of history, Castlevania series has been released for all the systems such as Famicom, Super Famicom, X68000, GameBoy, PlayStation, PC-Engine, and so on…appearing also in other media like the Netflix’s anime series and dozens of music albums!

Finally, two of the most beloved episodes of this series will arrive on PS4 this Friday with the vampire killing compilation: Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood! For the few ones who don’t know these games, a brief introduction is absolutely needed.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (悪魔城ドラキュラX ~血の輪廻) has been released in 1993 for PC-Engine Super CD-ROM². It sees the powerful yet young Ritcher Belmont battle against Dracula to rescue his true love, Annette. The 10th installment of the series has been acclaimed as the turning point for the whole series thanks to its impactful art-style, wonderful soundtrack, and visually astonishing anime-style cutscenes.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (悪魔城ドラキュラX月下の夜想曲) instead takes place in 1797; five years after the event occurred in Rondo of Blood and has been released in 1997 for PlayStation and Saturn. Starring Alucard (the son of Dracula), this multi-scrolling episode is set all within the walls of the castle to eradicate once for all the vampiric bloodline. Divided into 14 areas filled with Gothic and Renaissance works of art, and gruesome minions who aim to stop you; Castlevania: Symphony of the Night provides multiple endings, many secrets, and a cast of superstars!
